Keep your AI keys in the macOS Keychain
The helper can now keep the AI keys you use in the Social Archiver extension (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, OpenRouter) in the macOS Keychain. The extension hands a key over once and remembers only its last four characters. AI requests then go through the helper, which adds the key and sends them to that provider and nowhere else.
- Keychain storage: once the helper is paired, the extension's Options → My AI keys offers "macOS Keychain" as a way to keep keys. Keys kept there never stay in Chrome.
- Guard rails: only the four providers' API addresses can be reached this way, and every request needs the pairing token, like the helper's other features.
- Everything else as before: video muxing and Claude Code chat are unchanged. The macOS package is signed and notarized as before.
Note
The Keychain option shows up with the next extension update. Until then, updating the helper changes nothing you can see.
