Places: list, map, and posts — and the pins landed

  • Three views instead of one stacked surface. Places now splits into List, Map, and Posts, matching the mobile and desktop apps. Switch from the dropdown beside the search box.
  • Map view uses the whole pane. It was previously capped at the feed's reading width no matter how wide the window was.
  • Fixed: map pins sat far from where they belong. Zoomed out, a vault of Seoul and Gyeonggi places drew as vertical columns out in the East China Sea, and only looked right once you zoomed in. The plugin ships a hand-copied subset of Leaflet's stylesheet, and .leaflet-marker-icon had been left out of the group that positions everything — so markers stacked down the pane in normal flow and then took their geographic offset from there.
  • Fixed: place photos were never saved. Photos on a Google Maps place stayed as remote links in the note and never appeared on the card. The media step skipped the entire googlemaps platform where it meant to skip only static map images.
  • Fixed: the map labelled places by street address. The Empire State Building read "20 W 34th St., New York, NY 10001". Kakao and Naver places always used the place name; Google Maps now matches.
  • Opening a place gives it its own view — from a list row or a map pin — with the place card first, then every archive that mentions it. Returning leaves the map exactly where you had panned and zoomed it.
  • A place view shows all of that place's archives regardless of the Inbox or archived filter. It used to count them and then show none.
  • Change a place's type — cafe, restaurant, culture… — from the icon in the places list.
  • Search for a place and save it directly with the pin button above the list, instead of hunting down its map URL.
  • The place list fills the available height instead of stopping partway down an empty pane.

New basemap, with dark mode

  • The map follows your light or dark theme, including the small maps inside place cards. Switching themes swaps the tiles in place, so the map keeps its position.
  • The basemap moved off tile.openstreetmap.org, whose tile usage policy asks applications not to point at it, and onto CARTO. Attribution credits both OpenStreetMap and CARTO.

Also

  • Buttons across the Places panel, the place picker, and notice actions no longer render as filled grey slabs.
  • The video-download warning in the archive dialog is a quiet note rather than a filled orange block.
