AI File Sorter 1.9.0 released

AI File Sorter 1.9.0 is now released for Windows and macOS, and the releases for Linux are coming soon. Available from filesorter.app, the Microsoft Store, and SourceForge.

AI File Sorter 1.9.0 focuses on safer, clearer everyday cleanup. This release adds smarter category whitelists, letting each main category define its own allowed subcategories, along with a cleaner whitelist editor for managing main categories, global subcategories, and category-specific rules.

The review window now includes file previews, making it easier to check suggested categories, subcategories, and filenames before approving changes. Recursive scans are also safer: AI File Sorter now protects recognized Unity, Unreal, Godot, Blender, Git, and common source-code project folders so project structures are less likely to be disturbed during large folder cleanups.

Local AI workflows are more flexible too, with support for custom visual models and configurable model storage. Accessibility, local model handling, release packaging, and general runtime reliability have also been improved across supported platforms. On Windows, version 1.9.0 also supports the optional Windows Explorer Extension workflow for starting AI File Sorter actions from the File Explorer right-click menu.
