A home screen for Fire TV: your apps, your HDMI inputs, a clock. Nothing else.
What's new in 1.4
Fixes
- Waking the TV on Amazon's home brings dumbtv home back at once. Fire OS resumes the last screen without telling the launcher, so Amazon's home could stay up after standby until something else happened. Amazon's other screens, such as its settings grid, are left alone (#102).
- The tile you leave shrinks back straight away instead of staying enlarged for a moment after focus moves (#94).
New, optional (Options)
- Memory meter: free memory under the date, with a bar of what is in use. It turns amber when Android reports low memory or less than 15% is free. It only shows the numbers, closes nothing, and needs no permission. Off by default (#99).
Same release, outside the launcher
- HOME on Fire TVs built on Android 12 and later. The setting that makes the HOME switch immediate moved in Android 12, so
install.shwas writing it where those TVs no longer read it. It now writes it in the right place, andverify.shchecks the right place (#57). install.shno longer hangs if the TV falls asleep during the install, waits long enough for Fire OS to start the HOME guard on a fresh install, and stops cleanly on Ctrl-C (#93, #101, #92).install.sh --undoandrestore.shput back an alarm setting you had before, and remove the Doze exemption (#92).- A TV that drops off the network now stops the run instead of being read as "package not installed" (#91).
preflight.shlists only the apps you named for removal, all.shhonoursCONF, and four smaller script fixes (#88).- New device reports: Fire TV Cube 3rd gen, OnePlus TV Y Series, Toshiba 43C350NU, and a full pass on the Fire TV Stick 4K Max. Thanks to everyone who tested.
Install or update: ./scripts/launcher.sh (checksum-verified). No permissions on Fire OS 7 and 8, no internet access.
