A home screen for Fire TV: your apps, your HDMI inputs, a clock. Nothing else.
What's new in 1.3
Fixes
- The TV stays on while you watch an input. The input screen now keeps the TV awake while it shows a picture, like Amazon's own player, so a game or a film over HDMI is no longer cut off by the screensaver and sleep after five minutes. With no signal the normal timeout still applies (#74).
- The focused Settings button is no longer cut off at its right edge (#66).
- Settings from the media folder on Fire OS 8. Fire OS 8 hides the launcher's own folder from adb, so
home.confandwallpapers/can now also go in/sdcard/Android/media/tv.dumbtv.home/. A pushedhome.confis applied once and does not overwrite later changes made in Options (#65).
New, optional (Options)
- App order › Recently used: the apps row puts the apps you opened last first. It counts apps opened from dumbtv home; on Fire OS 6 also apps opened by voice or from another app. The default stays Your order (#79).
Same release, outside the launcher
verify.shpresses HOME and checks where it lands, instead of trusting that the hook is bound (#65), and accepts NXDOMAIN from router filters.- The scripts read the app in front correctly on Android 13 and 14 (#57).
- A disabled Amazon screensaver no longer makes the TV sleep every five minutes:
debloat.shswitches to Android's own screensaver,restore.shgives Amazon's back,verify.shwarns (#74). - Fire OS 7.7 reboots on the first request instead of waiting 45 s and asking again (#70).
DNS_UPSTREAMindumbtv.confsends names the local list does not cover to resolvers you choose; the router stays the default (#82).- Amazon Kids and Amazon Luna are no longer switched off unless you name them (#70).
- Fourteen new device reports in the catalog. Thanks to everyone who tested a TV.
Install or update: ./scripts/launcher.sh (checksum-verified). No permissions on Fire OS 7 and 8, no internet access.
