A home screen for Fire TV: your apps, your HDMI inputs, a clock. Nothing else.
- 41 KB, plain Java, no libraries
- No permissions at all: no internet, no advertising ID. Check:
aapt2 dump permissions dumbtv-home.apk - HOME lands on it in ~0.2 s, without Amazon's home flashing first
- Move, rename and hide tiles; accent color, tile size, clock, wallpaper; one plain-text settings file
Install
git clone https://github.com/humblemuzzu/dumbtv.git && cd dumbtv
adb connect <tv-ip>:5555
./launcher/install.shinstall.sh downloads dumbtv-home.apk from this release, checks its SHA-256 against the value pinned in the script, installs it and sets up the HOME takeover. No Java or Android SDK needed. Undo with ./launcher/install.sh --undo.
Installing the APK by hand (adb install dumbtv-home.apk) works too, but HOME only switches over after install.sh has set up the accessibility service and the alarm setting; see launcher/README.md.
Tested on a Fire TV Edition television, Fire OS 7.7 (Android 9).
