  • A port's VLAN can now be changed from the panel. The Interfaces card has an Edit mode switch, available to administrators and operators and off every time the page is opened. With it on, ports that sit on a VLAN-filtering bridge get a PVID field right on the port map. Ports where a PVID would change nothing — a bridge without VLAN filtering, or a device that switches VLANs on the chip — do not get a field, because the setting there would have no effect.
  • A backup is taken before the change, and if the backup fails, nothing is written. It is stored as a normal backup and shown with the rest of them.
  • The confirmation says what will actually happen. On an access port it says the port moves from one VLAN to another. On a trunk it says what a trunk change really is: only untagged traffic moves to the new VLAN, and the tagged VLANs are listed as unaffected. If the port currently shares the VLAN the device is managed over, the confirmation says that too.
  • Every change is written to the activity log with the old value, the new one and the backup it was made against, and the new value is read back from the device afterwards rather than assumed.

Viewers see neither the switch nor the field. Tagged and untagged membership, creating VLANs and switching VLAN filtering on a bridge are later steps.
