What's New
Watching
- Live TV remembers the audio track you pick on each channel and uses it every time that channel plays, including catch-up.
- The info bar now shows the audio format next to the picture quality (Stereo, 5.1, Dolby, DD+, DTS, Atmos).
- The info bar shows the channel's frame rate next to the picture size (for example 1080P · 50 FPS). Handy for live sports. You can turn it off in Live TV settings (Frame Rate on the Info Bar).
- Back now closes the info bar while watching full screen, instead of leaving full screen. Press Back again to leave.
- When a channel won't play, Live TV switches to a backup channel with the same name from another group or playlist (for example "ESPN" and "ESPN Backup"). A message tells you when it happens. On by default; you'll find it in Watching settings as Switch to a Backup Channel.
Catch-Up
- Rewinding and skipping ahead in catch-up are now instant. Replays are saved to the device while you watch, so they no longer reload every time you skip. Skipping further ahead than has been saved still loads from the provider. You can turn this off with Faster Catch-Up Skipping.
Reorder Channels
- Move as many channels as you like in one go. Select a channel with OK, move it, press OK to place it, then select the next. Back saves everything.
- Every channel shows a move icon while reordering, and the one you're moving is highlighted in gold.
- The channel you're moving no longer goes off the top of the screen.
TV Guide
- When two guides cover the same channel, the one with more days of listings is used.
Posters
- 24/7 movie channels now show the film series' collection poster (Batman, Die Hard, Fast & Furious and others) instead of a single movie's poster. TV show channels are unchanged.
Start-Up Report
- The report can now be scrolled with the remote, and opens at the newest lines.
- Channels that fail to play, or never start, are now written to the report with the reason, which makes "it won't play" problems much easier to sort out.
- The report now shows more about each guide: what was downloaded, how many channels it matched and how far ahead its listings go.
Fixes
- Fixed guides from some providers (like GridStreamr) loading only partly, or not at all, when the guide file has broken entries in it. The guide reader is now much more forgiving, like other IPTV apps.
- "Update guide now" now always downloads the full guide and re-matches your channels, even when the guide looks unchanged. This fixes guides that stayed empty or out of date no matter how many times you pressed it.
- A guide whose listings have all run out is now downloaded again in full automatically.
- Fixed "Update now" sometimes doing nothing when an automatic update was waiting for a movie or episode to finish playing.
- Faster start-up for people using Google Drive sync: Live TV no longer reloads the guide when nothing changed on the other TV.
- Changing a login's settings (like its user agent) now downloads that login's built-in guide again straight away.
- A guide added separately from the same server as a playlist now uses that playlist's user agent.
- Overlay mode: the show details card no longer covers the schedule.
