What's new
TV guide redesign
- A fresh look that follows your Nuvio theme (Amber, White and the rest). The rows, group list, search and Assign EPG screen all use the theme's colors instead of plain grey.
- A soft theme-colored glow behind the info panel. The show's poster now has rounded corners, and so does the live preview.
- The time row says "Today", "Tomorrow" or "Yesterday" instead of a date, marks midnight, and shows the current time at the right end.
- A cleaner "now" line, with a progress bar on the show that's on.
- Show tags right in the guide: LIVE, NEW, episode number, reminder set, and catch-up available.
- Channels with no guide info, and gaps between shows, now show a striped bar instead of empty space. Longer gaps are labeled "No information".
- Moving onto a channel with no guide lights up the whole row, with the name in bold.
- A gap between two shows is highlighted as one block, and one press of Right moves past it.
- The group list lines up with the channel rows all the way to the bottom.
Full-screen info bar
- Redesigned, sitting lower on screen, with no channel strip covering the picture.
- Shows a larger poster, LIVE / ARCHIVE tags, picture quality, catch-up availability and the clock.
- Shows what's on next.
Posters
- 24/7 channels (like "24/7 South Park") now show the show's poster and description, even when the guide is one long listing named after the channel.
- The poster for the channel you're on loads first, ahead of the background lookups.
- A lookup that runs out of time is tried again instead of leaving the channel without a poster.
Logos
- New per-playlist setting: Prefer logos from playlist or Prefer logos from EPG. Find it in the playlist's options under Settings › Live TV.
- Dark logos get a light backing so they stay visible.
Profiles
- Each Nuvio profile now keeps its own Live TV and On Demand favorites, recents, hidden groups and channels, group and channel order, custom groups, reminders, and On Demand hidden categories.
- Playlists, guides, settings, renames, channel numbers, EPG assignments and parental locks stay shared.
- Each profile starts with a copy of the main profile's setup the first time it opens Live TV.
Assign EPG
- Your changes now show in the guide a moment after you make them, while the panel is still open. Before, nothing changed until you closed it.
- Unassign now works. It removes the guide from the channel; press it again to go back to automatic matching.
- Moving around the panel works properly:
- Down from the buttons goes to the guide choices, then into the list, and Up goes back the same way.
- The highlight can't fall through to the guide behind the panel.
- The list remembers which row you were on.
Catch-up
- "Watch from start" now starts at the beginning of the show on providers that send a show that's still airing as a growing live stream. Before, playback started near the live point and you had to rewind.
Fixes
- Hiding Recently watched or Favorites: no longer turns the home screen's Live TV row into every channel in your playlist, which could make Live TV slow or look frozen. The row always shows its own group, even when that group is hidden in the guide.
- "Hide group" on Favorites, Recently watched and All channels: now works. It switches the group off in Live TV settings, and you can switch it back on there.
- On Demand on Fire TV Stick 4K: fixed a freeze and crash. On Demand also does its heavy work in the background now.
- Playback stutter: fixed stuttering in Nuvio's own player caused by Live TV and On Demand background work. That work now waits while you watch.
- General speed: the app is less sluggish overall. The Live TV home row and guide no longer redo work every time the clock ticks.
- Live TV loading: guide processing and the prefix/suffix cleanup are much faster. The cleanup is skipped entirely when you haven't set any.
- App startup: On Demand and Live TV wait a little after the app opens before checking for updates, so Nuvio's own home screen loads first.
- "Too many requests" (HTTP 429) when playing On Demand:
- Live TV now lets go of its stream as soon as the stream list opens.
- On Demand imports stop as soon as a provider says "too many requests".
- Catch-up lookups pause for a few minutes after one.
- Google Drive backup on VPNs: syncing is more reliable on VPNs and networks with patchy IPv6. If it can't reach Google, it now says why (timed out, blocked, and so on).
Crash reports
- To send a report, go to Settings › Live TV › Help › Crash report. It now also catches freezes and other times Android closed the app.
Troubleshooting
- The start-up report now records:
- why a playlist or guide failed to update
- each 24/7 poster lookup and its result
- when a provider asked us to slow down
