Diagnostics in three clicks
When something goes wrong, click the Diagnostics button on the dashboard, pick what is going wrong, make the problem happen, and press It happened - finish. The diagnostics file downloads on its own, and the page tells you where it went and how to attach it to a GitHub issue. The issue opens with its title, environment and area already filled in.
What changed along the way:
- One question. You only pick the area. The questions about devices and "can you reproduce it now" are gone.
- The button tells you when something is wrong. It gets a red ring and dot when the plugin sees a problem, such as a device that stopped responding or a live view that ended without video. Clicking it names the problem and what to do about it.
- You can close the page. A capture keeps running until you finish it, and the button shows Capturing meanwhile. It stops on its own after 72 hours, and what it captured can still be downloaded.
- Nothing is lost. If the download fails, Download it again gets you a new copy. An old capture no longer reopens every time you come back.
- Cancel stops a capture and deletes it.
Reporting a problem needs a GitHub account. The diagnostics file is encrypted, stays on your computer until you attach it yourself, and never contains passwords, account data or camera media. (#1121)
