oh, we are at 4 snapshots yet? cool ig.
This update addresses following issues on both new/updated installations:
gamescope (power controls): Introduce daemon that checks for SteamOS Reboot/Shutdown sentinels, instead of doing dirty hacks on gamescope-session
side
pacman: Switch to jupiter-main
bleeding edge branch for both new and updated installations, thus updating HoloISO to SteamOS 3.2, ignoring upgrades for MESA/Gamescope/GRUB
Recovery mode: huge rework for recovery mode including recoveryinit
and few new things
Now, while being in recovery mode, you are able to turn off/on session switching and autologin just by invoking holoiso-disable-sessions
or holoiso-enable-sessions
jupiter-controller-service: Dummy-ify to cancel failed systemd messages
steamos-update: Fix idiotic upgrade overrides
This update adds following stuff on new installations:
GPU choice - This adds option to choose fresh or downgraded gamescope for incompatible systems:
This update was mostly about fixing those irritating stuffs, so here's old changelog to see what's changed since Summertime snapshots:
This update addresses following issues on updated installations:
- gamescope: Reboot/Shutdown/Sleep (including deep sleep throbber) is now fixed
- steamos-session-select: More seamless session switching and resembles temporary session switch behavior like on Deck
- Fixed issue, where Vapor theme would get white on occassion
If you are on Summertime release:
- Execute
sudo pacman -Rdd sddm && sudo pacman -S sddm-wayland
- Then update by invoking
steamos-update
and reboot.
New additions for fresh installation:
- This installation is now based over SteamOS 3.2
jupiter-main
branch. This means, that this release adopts "Steam Deck beta" channel packages for more bleeding-edge and fresh things! /home
and root are now located in separate partitions! This is done to minimize impact on personal data in case of system corruption and stuff,/home
is formatted asext4
- GRUB now has it's own default configuration, running
grub-mkconfig
will no longer report system asArch Linux
- Flatpak and flathub are enabled and installed by default
Additional options for SteamOS
now has "Recovery mode" entry! If you encounter any issues, you can boot into it and do your required stuff, for example downgrade Gamescope/MESA on Intel installations or switch sessions beforehand.
- Fixed wrong GPU usage information, thanks to Valve for updating Gamescope/Mangohud
- Desktop now has proper permissions for R/W, thanks to @fewtarius
holoinstall
will check for NTP to be on before installing, to avoid SSL mismatch, thanks to @pants4hire- gamescope: Reboot/Shutdown/Sleep (including deep sleep throbber) is now fixed
- steamos-session-select: More seamless session switching and resembles temporary session switch behavior like on Deck
- Fixed issue, where Vapor theme would get white on occassion
