Thanks for your feedback! I can consider this version stable, because it follows "rolling" update mechanism.
That means, you can just download this ISO and not care about having fresh version at all. Because you'll get latest version installed regardless. This is achieved thanks to hosting my own pacman repository called holoiso
, https://dl.thevakhovske.cf/6:/holoiso/os/x86_64/ which carries package called holoiso-main
, https://github.com/theVakhovskeIsTaken/holoiso_install_main, which contains HoloISO updater, session switcher and required base packages to install. This allows me to pack more stuff, and just update it in Steam Deck UI or invoking steamos-update in terminal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqC9MLzsQ2s
Changes to Rub-rub release:
- This release adopts full "rolling" installation, that means, that starting from this ISO, you won't need to constantly download newer one each release, the up-to-date version is going to be installed REGARDLESS of which one you've downloaded.
- This update introduces
holoiso
pacman repository. which hasholoiso-main
package, WHICH is going to be used to deliver updates and new OS installation. While it is in pretty early stage of development, it works without any issues, and enrolls fully-functional OS release.
- This update addresses an issue, where
archlinux-keyring
would be broken for most IP connections - This update addresses an issue, where gamescope would have noticable delay in-game
- This update introduces following choices: Custom
root
password, passwordless/or passwordedsudoers
configuration - This update introduces network checking for
holoinstall
to proceed, this avoids getting to the installer without severe pacman db corruption. - Fixed "invalid choice" always appearing while choosing installation flavor
- For now,
gameonly
flavor is not usable, because it's undergoing renovation for now.
Known issues (While most of them are device-related, it's good to make sure people know about them.)
- Steam Deck UI currently can't start without entering password for first time, this is due to Steam's bootstrapping client unpacking it and force-closing on first run
- Steam Deck's kernel is lacking AMD/MediaTek WLAN card drivers, and current dynamic kernel modules are incompatible with it.
- OnexPlayer, Aya Neo, and other similar devices with clockwise-rotated framebuffer has Deck session showing up upside-down. I'll try my best to address those issues later.
- SD UI cannot reboot/shutdown without additional password entry. I'll try my best to address those issues later, because they don't seem to be related to systemd/polkit either
- Report more x3, i like your feedback!
