Police Car Pack
- The Police Car Pack cars are in the game (issues #36, #37): the 1996 Chevrolet Impala SS (LAPD, Highway Patrol) and the 2006 Dodge Charger SRT-8 (LAPD, Highway Patrol, Border Patrol), with their own set-ups. The installer now extracts them from your disc.
- The showroom lists and prices cars as the original does: the pack last, a type line for every class (the cruisers read POLICE), and test drives start in the car's own set-up (livery, plate) instead of the first swatch.
- A model can be in your garage more than once, and the showroom lists the cars you already own. An imported save keeps each copy's own look.
- The police leave you alone in a police car, as in the original; your car's light bar, siren and horn chirp work in it.
Bike rider
- The rider is thrown off his bike in a crash (issue #39): he plays his eject animation, then flies as a ragdoll with the city's collisions, his own body's contacts and the bike's hull, and the camera follows him. The first hit plays the body-fall sound.
- The rider and drivers are lit as the original lights them, by day and at night, including the gauge light, interior neon and floor of a driver's car.
- A bike's crash camera hands back when the bike rides on (issue #39).
Garage
- RIDE HEIGHT works (issue #39): it moves the car (+6 to -8, as the original's list), the wheels stay inside the fenders for every rim, profile, width and ride height, and the chosen rim size draws.
- Licence plate letters take the plate's tint, place and size as the original draws them, and the plate is no longer too dark.
Sound
- Every engine plays at its own level (issue #39); the engine sound was checked against recordings of the original.
Police and races
- Estimated times instead of DNF on the results for racers who have not finished.
- Cop zones and pursuits: a countdown to a pursuit counts as being chased (the race-over and pause menus grey what would leave the chase), and escaping a pursuit pays its experience at once.
- ARCADE races with POWER UPS pay nothing, as in the original.
- Menus: the BACK of the telephone challenge's race list closes into the cruise; START does not open the pause menu while a lesson box holds it.
Fixed
- The ARRESTED / TICKETED panel takes A in free roam, so the black after a bust no longer stays until the pause menu (issue #39).
- Icons no longer blink too fast on the minimap and GPS map, whatever the frame rate.
- The time trial man's stopwatch ring is back on the minimap and GPS map.
- Cops look along the car's travel for the 7 m probe instead of always behind it.
- A traffic car's headlamp cone fades with distance as in the original.
- Distant trees (impostors) are lit as the original lights them by day, trunk included.
- Story conditions are matched as the original does, which fixes missions that waited for a hook, a district win or a garage visit.
- Scene cars and drivers follow the original's rule for hiding the seat.
Known issues
- The Police Car Pack cars are not yet compared with the original's own screens in every menu (showroom, garage, MANAGE VEHICLES).
Install and update
New here? Download RustyMCLA.exe, put it in a folder of its own and start it; it walks you through the setup. You need your own disc image of the Xbox 360 version of the game (Midnight Club: Los Angeles, Complete Edition). Nothing of the game is included.
Already installed? The launcher offers this update by itself. You can always skip it.
The launcher is not code-signed, so Windows may show "Windows protected your PC". Choose More info, then Run anyway, after comparing the SHA-256 below with your download.
