v1.0.7: PC build tool detection

The zip below is everything needed to build the game from your own disc: the build scripts, the SDK patches, the function hints and the host application. As always, it holds no game code, assets or keys; the build takes those from your own copy of Midnight Club: Los Angeles Complete Edition (USA/Europe, Xbox 360) on your machine.

PC build: tool detection (#13)

  • Python from the Microsoft Store now counts. Step 1 treated any Python in the WindowsApps folder as Windows' placeholder and tried to install another one. It now checks that python --version actually runs and reports Python 3, so a working Store Python is accepted and the placeholder still is not.
  • Clang's path is pinned. The build sets the compiler paths from the exact Clang folder it installs in tools\, and stops with a clear message if that folder is incomplete, instead of failing on an empty compiler name. Any other Clang on your path is still not used (see #9).
  • winget "No package found". If installing a tool fails with that, winget's package list on your PC is out of date or broken; the README now says how to reset it, or install the tool yourself.

Checked on Windows 11 under Windows PowerShell 5.1: the new Python check accepts a real Python and rejects a stand-in for the placeholder and a missing Python; a full make_pc.ps1 run finishes. Not tested with an actual Microsoft Store Python.

Getting it

Update (git pull, or unpack the zip over your copy) and run the same command again:

.\scripts\make_pc.ps1 -Iso C:\path\to\your.iso

Nothing changed for PS5 or Linux in this release.
