An update to the unofficial native PC port of Project Gotham Racing 2 (original Xbox, PAL and NTSC).
No game files are included. You need your own copy of the game: an .iso of your disc, or a folder with its
files. The game's code is built on your PC from your disc.
Updating
From 1.6.0 or 1.6.1: the launcher offers this release at the top of its window. Press Update the launcher if
it asks, then Update. Your saves, settings and music are kept.
From 1.2.0 to 1.5.1: press Update the launcher, then Update, as described in the
1.6.0 notes.
What's new since 1.6.1
Fixes
- Menu transitions fill the whole screen again on 16:9 and wider screens. Since 1.6.1 the fades between menu pages
only covered the 4:3 middle, leaving the edges unchanged. The intro movies still keep their 4:3 shape.
(#36) - Reflections cost less. The cars' reflections reuse their working textures instead of making new ones every frame,
which lifts busy racing at high frame rates (about 85 to 110 frames a second on a test PC at 120) and removes a
cause of stutter.
Known
- Races at 120 frames a second still dip in the busiest parts of a track. A larger renderer change that spreads its
work over more CPU cores is being tested for the next release.
Files
- PGR2Launcher.exe: the only file to download by hand. It fetches the rest itself.
- PGR2-package.zip and PGR2-package.zip.json: the package the launcher downloads, and its size and checksum.
You do not need to download or unzip them.
