An update to the unofficial native PC port of Project Gotham Racing 2 (original Xbox, PAL and NTSC).
No game files are included. You need your own copy of the game: an .iso of your disc, or a folder with its
files. The game's code is built on your PC from your disc.
Updating
From 1.6.0: the launcher offers this release at the top of its window. Press Update the launcher if it asks,
then Update. Your saves, settings and music are kept.
From 1.2.0 to 1.5.1: press Update the launcher, then Update, as described in the
1.6.0 notes.
What's new since 1.6.0
Ultrawide fills the screen by default (#33)
- Aspect Ratio: From Screen, the default, now widens the view on an ultrawide screen (21:9 and wider) instead of
showing 16:9. The HUD stays in a 16:9 area in the middle. Before, only Fill Screen widened it. - Switching between 16:9 and Fill Screen applies at once, without stretching the picture. Changing to or from
4:3 still needs a restart, as the game picks its TV mode when it starts.
Fixes
- Speed camera photos show your car again, on the result page and in Options > Profile > Speed Camera. They were a
grey or black box. (#30) - Washington's Capitol dome no longer shows the sky through it with Smooth Alpha Edges on.
(#28) - The intro movies keep their 4:3 shape, with black bars at the sides, instead of being stretched across a wide
screen. The title screen is unchanged. (#26) - Recomp in the pause menu keeps the pause menu's darkened background, so its text is readable over a bright sky.
(#32)
Known
- Races at 120 frames a second dip to about 90 in busy parts of a track on most PCs: the renderer's cost per draw. 60
holds; a variable refresh display (FreeSync, G-Sync) hides the dips best. Work on this is next.
Files
- PGR2Launcher.exe: the only file to download by hand. It fetches the rest itself.
- PGR2-package.zip and PGR2-package.zip.json: the package the launcher downloads, and its size and checksum.
You do not need to download or unzip them.
