everyone, The TF2-Trifecta 2.0 has been released!
A large rewrite of the addon has finally happened, resulting in better stability, user interaction, and smaller file sizes.
Here's the rundown of the new features.
Space Saving - Linking from source files is now supported, meaning any image or node group will be linked which should really help lower file sizes. If you want this to be disabled for whatever reason, you can do so in the addon extras in the scene properties.
New Asset Paths - It is no longer required to host the assets needed in the asset libraries. Instead, you can do it in the addon preferences where space will not be wasted.
The add and remove buttons are self-explanatory. The download button will pull the old asset paths (which should automatically happen). The magnifying glass will try to automatically add asset paths if they are relative/near to one added asset entry. For this feature to work, you are required to add at least one asset path entry.
Updating!! - Due to a little new feature Herwork and I made, it is now possible to update the addon through a button located in the updater panel in the scene properties, completely removing the need for the user to update themselves. Just a heads up, Blender might crash when doing so.
And the minor changes:
Paint icons now show in a window list.
Paints have been sorted by hue.
New search system. Previously, the results window would be generated on the fly which wasn't very good for management. Now, the results list and results window are static, yet the contents they show/contain are dynamically added.
Merc Deployer now mentions the use of Low/High quality to reduce confusion.
Hectoris919's port (Face rig) will work once the project is finished.
Asset paths can now be pulled from the addon preferences rather than be generated from the asset libraries, resulting in more stability.
Things to know: (READ!!!!)
Upon installation of 2.0, the addon will automatically pull and remove the old asset paths, freeing up space for the asset browser.
Each entry has a button to the side of it. This button's purpose is to switch between the name and path of the entry. If spawning an item fails, be sure that both the path and the name of the entry is correct.
Every mercenary has been Rigified. This means that you can now use a MUCH more professional rig to articulate the mercs. This rig supports IK and FK swapping! To learn how to use Rigify rigs, watch a tutorial. If you choose to download these rigs and use them, change the path of the
TF2-V3
entry to the rigified mercs' path. However, the name of the entry needs to stayTF2-V3
