9.7.0 (2026-10-23)

Release Type: ⚠️ RECOMMENDED
DB Migration: ⚠️ Yes — see below

docker pull ghcr.io/hirosystems/stacks-blockchain-api:9.7.0

This feature release upgrades the Node.js version of built Docker images to solve recently published security vulnerabilities.
It also introduces new v3 block endpoints (#2718):

  • GET /extended/v3/blocks: cursor-paginated Stacks block summaries
  • GET /extended/v3/blocks/{height_or_hash}: Stacks block details, including parent, size and execution cost
  • GET /extended/v3/bitcoin-blocks: cursor-paginated Bitcoin block summaries
  • GET /extended/v3/bitcoin-blocks/{height_or_hash}: Bitcoin block details
  • GET /extended/v3/bitcoin-blocks/{height_or_hash}/blocks: Stacks blocks anchored to a Bitcoin block

Stacks block summaries (also returned by search and miner rewards) now include tenure_height, tx_count and their Bitcoin anchor block. Bitcoin blocks include their header time (or an interpolated/projected time when no Stacks block anchored to them) plus their Stacks block and transaction counts. v3 block times on legacy rows that lack one now fall back to the Bitcoin block time.

It also adds event_count to v3 transaction summaries, so it's returned by every v3 endpoint that lists transactions (transactions list and batch, block transactions, principal transactions and search), not only by the single-transaction endpoint (#2724).

The Docker image is now based on node:24-alpine again and is about 25% smaller (#2727).

⚠️ /v2 RPC proxy changes

The built-in /v2 core node RPC proxy is now a plain passthrough (#2725). The following variables are removed and no longer have any effect:

  • STACKS_API_EXTRA_TX_ENDPOINTS_FILE
  • STACKS_CORE_PROXY_BODY_LIMIT
  • STACKS_CORE_FEE_ESTIMATOR_ENABLED, STACKS_CORE_FEE_ESTIMATION_MODIFIER, STACKS_CORE_FEE_PAST_TENURE_FULLNESS_WINDOW, STACKS_CORE_FEE_PAST_DIMENSION_FULLNESS_THRESHOLD, STACKS_CORE_FEE_CURRENT_DIMENSION_FULLNESS_THRESHOLD, STACKS_CORE_FEE_CURRENT_BLOCK_COUNT_MINIMUM

Migrations

This release adds a materialized burn_block_count to chain_tip and a new burn_blocks.burn_block_time column, backfilled from the header times stored on blocks. Estimated migration downtime: 1-3 minutes.
