Dinky 2.13.1

A follow-up to 2.13.0 that makes Watch Folders and hidden-from-Dock mode behave the way you'd expect. For Macs with Apple Silicon (M-series).

The Trash-default change below affected people who already had a watch folder set up in a way that wasn't intended. If you're updating now, go straight to 2.13.2 instead — it keeps your existing watch-folder behavior and fixes this.

Heads up: Watch Folder originals now go to the Trash

Watch Folders have their own Originals setting now (Settings → Watch), separate from the one for drag-and-drop. It defaults to Move to Trash, so a watch folder stays an inbox instead of filling up with originals next to their compressed copies.

If you'd rather keep watch-folder originals where they are, switch it to Stay where they are. Trashed originals can be restored from the Trash as usual. Drag-and-drop and Open still follow Settings → Output, unchanged.

Fixes

• Watch Folders no longer skip files. Dropping several files in at once could leave some sitting uncompressed forever. Everything that lands in the folder now gets picked up.
• Updates wait for your batch. Choosing Install Update while Dinky is compressing (including Watch Folder jobs) now asks first: Install After This Batch, Cancel, or Install Now. "After this batch" waits until everything queued is done.
• "Dinky" shows in the menu bar right away. Opening Dinky from the menu bar icon in hidden-from-Dock mode could leave the other app's menus at the top of the screen until you switched away and back.

Finder “Open With” shows two Dinkys

macOS lists each Dinky.app on disk with its own version. After an upgrade, an older copy is often still around.

• Homebrew: brew cleanup dinky (or brew cleanup) removes old cask versions under Caskroom.
• List every copy: mdfind 'kMDItemCFBundleIdentifier == "com.dinky.app"' in Terminal; delete extras you do not need (e.g. in Downloads).
