v1.3 beta 9: 8 Gen 2 on the new kernel

Beta 9 puts every 8 Gen 2 device on the new 7.2.8 kernel, so it's back to one image for everyone. It already works on the Thor (both screens, touch and Wi-Fi) and the Retroid Pocket 6, thanks to everyone who tested kernels and sent logs!

If it doesn't boot on your device, the old kernel from beta 7 and 8 is on the BOOT drive as KERNEL-prebuilt. Rename KERNEL to something else and KERNEL-prebuilt to KERNEL, and let me know.

What's new

• New 7.2.8 kernel for all 8 Gen 2 devices. The old one couldn't run Android apps at all, this one should, let me know if they work on yours.
• Wi-Fi and the controls on the AYANEO Pockets: the logs showed PCIe power saving breaking both, it's off now so they should work.
• Wi-Fi on the AYN devices: beta 8's newer firmware found no networks, it's back to the one that works.
• Retroid Pocket 6: the screen comes on with the new kernel, and A/B are finally the right way round (the button map never made it into beta 8).
• AYN Odin 2: A/B the right way round.
• AYN Thor: touch stays lined up in Desktop Mode instead of drifting after a minute.
• Bluetooth: paired controllers should reconnect after a reboot now, no more restarting Bluetooth by hand.
• Volume: first boot really starts at 25% now, and Windows games can't change the device volume anymore.
• The fan doesn't spin up to full when you shut down.
• Fixed a rare GPU hang when closing games.

Download the three .7z parts below and extract the .001 one with 7-Zip or WinRAR, that gives you the .img. SHA256s are in SHA256SUMS.

Installing

1. Flash ROCKNIX ABL 1.1.8 or newer for SM8550 to abl_a and abl_b.
2. Flash the .img to a microSD card (32GB+) with balenaEtcher or Rufus.
3. Hold Volume Down while turning it on, pick your device in Set device model, set boot mode to Linux and hit START.

First boot takes a couple of minutes.

Still not booting or something broken? Make a text file called debug on the SD card's BOOT drive, boot and wait 3 minutes, then send the debug-logs folder on discord.
