github hainguyents13/mechvibes v3.5.0

Added

  • Start hidden in the tray. A new switch in Settings > General opens Mechvibes in the background every time it starts, not only at login, with sounds on and the window hidden. Click the tray icon (the menu bar icon on macOS) or open Mechvibes again to show it.
  • A build for Intel Macs. Each release now has two macOS downloads: macos-arm64.dmg for Apple Silicon (M1 and later) and macos-x86_64.dmg for Intel Macs. Like the Apple Silicon build, it is experimental and not notarized.

Changed

  • Clearer screen after putting a theme on. It shows the theme's picture and who made it, and which parts it changed or left as yours. Done is the main button now, and Undo sits apart on the left so it is not clicked by mistake.
  • Hiding to the menu bar also hides the Dock icon (macOS). When you hide Mechvibes with the eye button, its Dock icon goes away too, and it comes back when you show the window again from the menu bar. When it starts minimized at login, it starts without a Dock icon as well. Closing the window with X still quits the app.
  • Usage stats now go to mechvibes.com. The one anonymous ping per launch (OS, app version and language) is counted by the Mechvibes website instead of Aptabase. The site keeps only a daily count and no IP address. You can still turn it off in Settings > Privacy.

Fixed

  • The Linux AppImage now starts on Fedora. It stopped with an error about a missing libbz2.so.1.0 file. The app now carries that library inside itself, so it no longer depends on how each Linux system names it.
  • Mood sounds no longer lag while you drag a volume slider. The volume is saved once you stop moving the slider, not on every step. The main slider now turns all sounds up or down together and keeps each sound's own level, instead of setting them all to the same volume.
  • The mouse wheel makes sound on Windows. Scrolling up or down now plays when the sound pack has sounds for MouseWheelUp and MouseWheelDown. The mouse packs that come with the app only have left and right clicks, so they stay quiet on scroll.
  • No more double sounds when one copy runs as administrator (Windows). If Mechvibes is already running as administrator, opening it again without admin rights no longer starts a second copy next to it, so each key plays once. It brings the running window to the front instead, and a library link or theme file opened at that moment is picked up.
  • Mood toggles, mute and play act once. Switching a sound on no longer starts it twice, and each click saves your settings once. Unmuting while paused stays silent, and a sound switched on while muted plays when you unmute.
  • The Windows key plays again, and Home, End and others play their own sound. Sound packs from Mechvibes 2 had the Windows keys, right Ctrl and Alt, the Menu key, Home, End, Page Up, Page Down, Insert, Delete, Print Screen, Pause and numpad Enter read as other keys, so some were silent and others played the sound of a different key. The packs that come with the app are fixed, and packs you brought over from Mechvibes 2 are fixed on their own the first time the new version starts.

Downloads

  • Windows: Mechvibes-<version>-Setup-x64.exe, the installer and the only asset the in-app updater uses.
  • Linux (Debian/Ubuntu): .deb. Install with sudo dpkg -i. It does not add you to the input group; run sudo usermod -a -G input $USER and log out/in, or key events won't be seen.
  • Linux (any distro): .AppImage is portable, with no install step. Run chmod +x on it first, then launch it. The input group requirement is the same as the .deb and nothing sets it up for you: sudo usermod -a -G input $USER, then log out and back in, or key events won't be seen.
  • macOS: macos-arm64.dmg for Apple Silicon (M1 and later), macos-x86_64.dmg for Intel Macs. Open it and drag Mechvibes to Applications. Ad-hoc signed but not notarized, so Gatekeeper blocks a normal double-click: right-click the app → Open → confirm, once. See README-macos.txt.
