Changed
- Linux: X11 now reads the keyboard and mouse the same way Wayland does, and picks up devices plugged in while the app runs. With your user in the
inputgroup, Mechvibes reads keys, clicks and the mouse wheel straight from the input devices on X11 too, whichever window is in front, and a keyboard or mouse you plug in later, or that reconnects after sleep, is heard within a couple of seconds instead of after a restart. Without theinputgroup, X11 keeps using the older listeners, so sound still works there. On X11 this adds the mouse wheel, and, as on Wayland, touchpad taps and two-finger scrolling make no sound. Thanks to @Palatis for the device handling and its tests (#122).
Downloads
- Windows:
Mechvibes-<version>-Setup-x64.exe, the installer and the only asset the in-app updater uses. - Linux (Debian/Ubuntu):
.deb. Install withsudo dpkg -i. It does not add you to theinputgroup; runsudo usermod -a -G input $USERand log out/in, or key events won't be seen. - Linux (any distro):
.AppImageis portable, with no install step. Runchmod +xon it first, then launch it. Theinputgroup requirement is the same as the.deband nothing sets it up for you:sudo usermod -a -G input $USER, then log out and back in, or key events won't be seen. - macOS (Apple Silicon):
.dmg. Open it and drag Mechvibes to Applications. Ad-hoc signed but not notarized, so Gatekeeper blocks a normal double-click: right-click the app → Open → confirm, once. SeeREADME-macos.txt.
