Godot 3.1 beta 2 is a beta snapshot for the 3.1 feature release. Beta snapshots are feature-complete and provided for public beta testing to catch as many bugs as possible ahead of the stable release.

To make a custom build which would also be recognized as beta2, you should define GODOT_VERSION_STATUS=beta2
in your build environment prior to compiling.
