What's new in v1.1.34
Highlights
- CSV and TSV files now open as a table with sticky headers and a Table/Source toggle in the file viewer.
- Drop files onto the sidebar "New" item to start a new session with them attached.
- Agent merge options are now available from the merge status button in pull request views.
- Resuming a session with a long history is much faster instead of taking tens of seconds to load.
- Large Mermaid diagrams no longer freeze the app while they render.
Added
- Added a "Detach session" option to the context menu of chats nested under a workspace or another chat, so you can separate them from their parent without losing the conversation.
- Added a floating "Scroll to bottom" button to the full pull request Overview so you can jump to the latest activity and comment box.
- Agent merge options are now available from the merge status button in pull request views, so you can enable or configure Agent merge while reviewing the pull request.
- CSV and TSV files now open as a table with sticky headers and a Table/Source toggle in the file viewer
- Drop files onto the sidebar "New" item to start a new session with them attached.
- Markdown files with YAML frontmatter now show a source indicator in Live mode and a read-only table in Read mode.
- Pin or unpin several sidebar sessions at once from the context menu when multiple sessions are selected
- Plugin install links can now include a marketplace to add, so a single link and confirmation installs a plugin from a marketplace you haven't added yet.
- The Pinned section of the Project Overview now offers "Archive merged PRs" to archive pinned sessions whose pull requests have merged or closed.
Changed
- Added and removed lines in diffs now have stronger background colors, making them easier to see in low-contrast themes.
- Agent merge action options stay visible and editable while it is off, and it can only be turned on once at least one action is selected.
- Checklist items now indent and outdent like regular bullet lists, and Markdown tasks can be reordered with their nested items by dragging the checkbox.
- Issue and pull request filters now show explicit Discard and Save buttons for unsaved changes, with a dropdown for Save as new view and Revert to default.
- Issue and pull request pages now show a responsive breadcrumb with the repository and section, which collapses into a menu at narrow widths and returns to the repository's list.
- Resuming a session whose WSL environment is disconnected now explains the connection problem and offers an Open environments action to reconnect, instead of showing a generic restore failure.
- Selecting another pull request from the stacked pull request menu now opens it as a tab in the current session instead of creating or switching sessions, the stack badge appears next to the pull request status, and referenced pull request Files tabs use the edge-to-edge diff layout.
- The image preview now behaves like a photo viewer: 100% shows the image's real pixels, zoom follows the pointer, and keyboard focus stays inside the preview until you close it.
- The pull request reviewer picker now shows each reviewer's review state inline and offers a re-request review action on each eligible reviewer row.
- The tray menu now shows your five most recently active Projects, and "New Project" appears next to "Create Session" and "New Chat".
- Try the Pele renderer for Mermaid diagrams by enabling Pele diagrams in Experimental settings
- Very large Markdown files now show a notice with a Load file button instead of loading automatically, keeping the app responsive until you choose to open them.
- Your own account now appears first in assignee pickers and people filters when the search box is empty.
Fixed
- A newer update now replaces the existing "Ready to update" notification instead of showing a second one alongside it
- A session whose worktree Git has been pointed at another folder (core.worktree) now says so and names the setting, instead of a false "Worktree missing", and resumes on Retry once the setting is removed. Recovery messages describe the actual problem, offer Recreate worktree only when a worktree's folder is gone, offer Show in file manager otherwise, and no longer leave a stray divider over the message.
- Adding a large plugin marketplace no longer fails with a timeout while its repository is still cloning
- Adding an SSH environment no longer fails when the remote user's login shell is fish, tcsh, or another non-POSIX shell
- After creation, new local worktrees no longer wait for unrelated background Git fetches during the final readiness handoff.
- After removing a repository's linked account, Settings and the sidebar now show the repository as disconnected and let you select the remaining account to relink it.
- Agent merge no longer repeatedly re-prompts a session after its Copilot quota is exhausted; it now pauses and shows a message until you send a message or quota is available again.
- Agent merge now pauses with a single notice when a session's workspace folder is missing, instead of retrying in a loop, and resumes automatically once the folder is back.
- Agent merge now stays on when GitHub rejects a merge because required checks or rules are not yet satisfied, and merges the pull request once it becomes ready.
- Archiving a session no longer waits for its checkout's files to be deleted, so archiving sessions with large checkouts finishes promptly instead of hanging for many minutes
- Connecting over SSH on Windows no longer opens a visible console window that could disconnect the session if closed
- Connector sign-in warnings in the conversation now point to Customize > Installed > MCP, and the action button opens the installed MCP list instead of the removed Connectors page
- Copilot usage percentages now refresh hourly and when you return to a window that has been open for a while, instead of appearing stuck.
- Copy path on files in a session's generated-file tree now copies the full absolute path instead of a relative one
- Copying a sent prompt now includes the full text of any large pasted content instead of just its label
- Creating a pull request from a session started from an issue no longer adds a closing reference when the description already links the issue (for example with "Relates to"), so partial work doesn't close the issue on merge
- Edit and Retry are no longer offered on a prompt while its session is still starting or busy, avoiding a "session not found" error.
- Editing a Markdown file no longer rewrites untouched paragraphs where a bold span crosses a line break and the closing line also uses underscore emphasis.
- Edits you make to a voice dictation transcript while recording are now preserved when speech recognition updates or when you confirm the recording
- Existing sessions now pick up updated model provider credentials after you save them, without needing to switch models.
- Fixed a crash in the file editor when clicking a line containing only a stray carriage return in files with mixed line endings.
- Fixed a false "session creation failed" error appearing when a new workspace took more than five minutes to finish setting up
- Fixed a message typed while a new chat is still starting being silently dropped; it's now accepted immediately and delivered once the chat is ready.
- Fixed a startup crash on Linux when no system tray library is available, and a crash when opening spreadsheets with circular named-range references, which now show a #CYCLE! error.
- Fixed agents added by plugins sometimes disappearing from a session's agent picker shortly after the session opened.
- Fixed bold or italic text that ends right before a backslash-escaped character showing stray asterisks in the Markdown editor and being rewritten with escaped asterisks when the file was saved.
- Fixed browser previews on Windows landing in the wrong place or staying misplaced after resizing or maximizing the window
- Fixed crashes when opening a terminal with non-Unicode environment variables and when loading spinners with an invalid document timeline
- Fixed edits in Settings, such as custom instructions, being discarded when the app was quit, restarted, or closed while the field was still focused; they are now saved before the app shuts down.
- Fixed first-run GitHub Enterprise Cloud sign-in leaving no visible way back when the device-code request fails (for example, a mistyped address); a Cancel button now returns you to the welcome screen
- Fixed GitHub issue and pull request links in cloud automation run transcripts not opening when clicked.
- Fixed long URLs in a narrow terminal pane being truncated, opened, and linked only up to the first line when a program wraps its output at the pane edge.
- Fixed long-running subagent tasks being interrupted when the session appeared unresponsive
- Fixed low-contrast keyboard shortcut labels on buttons, making them easier to read.
- Fixed middle-click in the prompt composer on Linux sometimes pasting the clipboard instead of the primary selection.
- Fixed multi-line LaTeX display formulas (delimited by [ ... ]) rendering their first lines as a large heading instead of math when one of their lines held only = or -.
- Fixed new sessions sometimes taking up to a minute to start on large repositories while a background branch refresh was running.
- Fixed page content in the right-panel browser stretching or squeezing while dragging the panel divider
- Fixed pressing Enter in the Markdown document editor on macOS sometimes leaving further typing on the previous line
- Fixed pull request view tabs being clipped at the top in the session Pull requests panel at narrow widths
- Fixed Pull Requests becoming unresponsive when reopening a saved location without filters
- Fixed removing a plugin marketplace making the app re-read installed plugins, skills, agents, MCP servers and marketplaces twice; each list is now read once.
- Fixed sessions created by an agent losing their requested model, reasoning effort and context tier when the session had to be started again after its first start failed.
- Fixed slash commands that depend on the model, such as /rubber-duck, staying unavailable in a resumed local session when the command list loaded before the model list; the command list is now refreshed once the model list is ready.
- Fixed starting a new session from Home for a collection project, which previously failed because a nonexistent branch was submitted for every repository.
- Fixed the Browser canvas and extension canvases being misplaced on macOS after maximizing or restoring the window
- Fixed the commit list showing "Retry commits" instead of loading when a local worktree is still being set up.
- Fixed the pull request description editor losing your scroll position and cursor when a dropped video finishes uploading
- Large Mermaid diagrams no longer freeze the app while they render
- Long session titles no longer stretch the macOS Dock menu; labels are now shortened to a single line with an ellipsis.
- Merged pull requests whose base branch was deleted can now be opened as a session instead of failing with "Session: Unavailable"
- Mermaid block diagrams now render instead of failing with an "Unsupported color format" error
- Messages sent to Copilot while it is working are no longer lost if the app quits or the session restarts before they are delivered; they are restored to the composer.
- New sessions that create a worktree start faster, no longer waiting on unrelated background Git fetches for data that is already local
- Pasting a pull request URL into Create from now shows the matching pull request, with its number and title, before offering environment choices.
- Plugin marketplaces now show the actual error when a refresh fails after signing in, instead of repeatedly offering Login.
- Pressing Ctrl+P (Cmd+P on macOS) in a session's Files tab now opens Go to file over that tab's files instead of the print dialog.
- Pressing Ctrl+Shift+Tab to go to the previous tab while typing in the message box no longer also changes the agent mode or exits shell mode.
- Pressing Enter in "New session from…" now starts the session after you pick a pull request or issue, instead of requiring a click.
- Pull requests opened as tabs in a session now show the merge status button, and the merge drawer no longer offers "Fix failing checks" when there is no session to send the fix to.
- Removing a marketplace that needs sign-in from Customize > Plugins now asks you to confirm uninstalling its plugins instead of doing nothing
- Reopening an unsaved inline diff edit no longer shows an extra line or lets typing change hidden code below it when the draft removed or joined the last lines of a visible block.
- Resuming a session with a long history is much faster instead of taking tens of seconds to load
- Retry and Restart session on the "Failed to restore session" screen can now be clicked while a session is still loading, so sessions no longer get stuck after a restore timeout
- Right-clicking selected text in a side question answer now offers Copy
- Running subagent progress now shows friendly connector and tool names instead of internal MCP routing names
- Saving a Markdown file in the editor no longer turns untouched lines such as
# not a headingor a***rule under a paragraph into headings, lists, quotes or links - Selected dividers in the Markdown editor now show a visible outline, so focus no longer appears lost when you click or arrow onto one.
- Sessions no longer show as "Needs input" while a restored question is still being recovered; they show as working until the question can be answered.
- Sessions started from a branch in the Create from picker are now titled from their first prompt instead of keeping the branch name
- Sessions that failed to start or resume now show a failed status and the error reason in a project's Overview under Needs input.
- Sessions with a known pull request now keep their pull request icon in the sidebar even when the session failed to resume or its checkout is missing or being rebuilt
- Starting or resuming a session no longer shows a "Copilot sessions are unavailable" error when the machine is heavily loaded and the health check is slow to respond.
- Streamed answers no longer show an extra paragraph break when a line such as
$$ E = mc^2 $$or#1234arrives in pieces - Submit review is now available on pull requests authored by Copilot or GitHub Actions, and when reviewing contributors' pull requests with local changes
- Tasks that depend on several prerequisites now appear after all of their prerequisites in the task list instead of under just one of them.
- The @ file picker in new sessions now lists files inside nested Git repositories and submodules instead of showing them as a single folder.
- The /chronicle commands can now be picked from the slash command list when writing the prompt of a local automation.
- The agent picker now shows an error message when the runtime refuses to switch or clear the agent, instead of silently doing nothing.
- The merge drawer no longer shows a misleading push-denied warning for pull requests from a fork you can write to into a repository where you only have read access
- The palette search in Settings → Themes now uses a clear button that matches the selected theme instead of the native one.
- The pending-review badge in comment headers no longer wraps onto two lines when the file path is long
- The quit confirmation now correctly warns when an agent session is waiting for your response, such as a permission prompt or plan approval, instead of allowing the app to close silently.
- The session title menu now keeps environment status on one line, shows a clear "Reconnecting" status instead of conflicting states, and uses "Environment" consistently.
- The side panel's top-right open/close toggle now stays available when the panel is maximized, so you can close it directly.
- Typing @ in a brand-new chat before sending a message now shows a message explaining that files will be available after the chat starts, instead of showing nothing.
- Very tall images shown by the View tool now display a readable, top-cropped preview instead of shrinking into an unreadable strip
- Voice dictation now inserts the transcript at the caret when it sits on a blank first line of a paragraph, instead of misplacing text and selecting the paragraph break
- When you hit a global rate limit, the prompt no longer offers to switch to auto model, since that action can't clear the limit.
