This build adds to 2.6.0-test1, test2, test3 and test4. The headline is a new photo viewer layout, saving a shared album's photo to your own Drive, and Back up everything making a Drive album of every folder.
If anything misbehaves, please send the diagnostics so a file problem can be told apart from something else: copy them from Settings and email support@photosforproton.eu, or post on Discord or GitHub.
Fixed and improved
- The photo viewer has a new layout: the date, time and cloud state in a pill on top and the actions in a row below. Turned sideways the actions move to the top bar, a shared album's photos get their own actions, removing a photo from an album asks first, and the time follows the 12 or 24 hour setting.
- One thumbnail pin per city on both maps, with no dots. The newest photo taken in the city is the pin (#118).
- The Excluded folders screen lists backed-up and excluded folders in two cards and explains the Back up and Album ticks.
- The Trash opens the same pull-up menu as the other screens, with Restore, Delete forever and Select all. With nothing picked, one button at the bottom restores or deletes everything in the tab.
- Quicker on a big library: the timeline fills from the newest photos while the whole library is read, and the viewer opens without dropped frames. The timeline starts at the top when a category is picked or taken off.
- Backing up a folder or a selection queues in slices, so thousands of photos queue much faster. The back-up pill stays steady between photos, its X only hides it, and the Activity screen lists the first 30 queued photos.
- Face grouping on big libraries is steadier: a name belongs to one person only, every person's photo count is set right, each pass reads only the faces it has not seen, progress is saved every five batches, and the face card counts faces while it groups.
- Clearing face data always finishes, also when you leave the screen.
- A person's page centres the tiles on the face and uses the same pull-up menu, and the Add photos picker's search offers people and albums.
- A saved copy of a WebP or PNG keeps its original's date, and the crop frame stays inside a very small photo.
- Opening an issue on GitHub is a short form (#140).
New
- Save a shared photo to your Drive: in a shared album, Save to my Drive copies the photo into your own Drive library.
- Back up everything also makes every folder a Drive album, folders created later included. Switch a folder's Album tick off to leave it out, and the setup ticks the albums when you pick Back up everything.
What to test
Please open photos, videos and a shared album in the viewer, also turned sideways, and check the actions and the date pill. Turn on Back up everything and check that a folder gets its Drive album and that you can switch one off. On a big library, give the face grouping a while and check that People fills in, that the names you gave are still on their people, and that the app stays smooth. Installs over your current version and keeps your data.
