Use Buddy's Codex from the ChatGPT app, and Buddy's Linux from Termux.
Codex session
- Settings → Remote Control → Codex session keeps Codex running inside Buddy, with the phone tools, so you can use it from the ChatGPT app (Codex) on your phone or on a computer. It needs Codex signed in in Buddy.
- Pair a device shows a one-time code. Enter it in ChatGPT: in Codex on a phone, or under Settings → Connections → Control other devices on a computer. Buddy shows up there as "localhost".
- Codex keeps its own settings: you pick each chat's permission in ChatGPT. Codex's sandbox can't run inside Buddy, so with Default permissions it asks before running each command outside it.
- Buddy keeps it running and starts it again after an update. Pairings are kept.
SSH from Termux
- Settings → Remote Control → SSH from Termux runs an SSH server in Buddy's Linux. Copy the command, run it once in Termux, and from then on
ssh buddyopens Buddy's Linux (scp and sftp work too). - Only apps on this phone can connect, and only with a key. The copied command works once, within 10 minutes.
Updating
Buddy will tell you about this update (or ask any agent "update yourself"). Otherwise install buddy.apk below over your current Buddy; your chats, settings and sign-ins are kept.
