Buddy pauses when you take your phone back, and can show you where to tap.
Pause and resume
- Auto-pause: while an agent uses your phone, touching the screen (outside the bubble) or a call, on the phone or in an app like WhatsApp or Messenger, pauses it on its own. The bubble shows a paused face and the pill says "Paused · tap here to resume": one tap and the agent goes on, after re-reading the screen. After a call, a notification offers Resume too. Nothing resumes by itself.
- Touches while a question or approval card waits don't pause: the agent just re-reads the screen after your answer.
- A pause ends by itself once the task is over, instead of stopping it five minutes later.
Show me
- Agents can point things out on the screen: a box, circle or arrow with a short label. It doesn't block your touches, follows its element as you scroll, and turns green once you do what it points at.
- Ask "show me how to…" and the agent guides you one step at a time, waiting for each tap instead of doing it for you.
- A step only you can do (a password, your details in a form, a file picker) no longer covers the screen: the question waits next to the bubble with the fields marked, and closes by itself once Buddy sees you flip the switch or tap the button.
Chats
- Links agents write as text now show as text you can tap, in the bubble and in the app. Copying a reply keeps their addresses.
Notification rules
- When Android hides a chat's notification from apps with notification access (it does when a message looks like a one-time code), a rule can't read it. Recent activity and a quiet notification now say so, instead of the rule going quiet, and it picks up again once the notification is readable.
- Rules no longer get stuck waiting after a pause.
Fixes
- "The model didn't answer" now shows the agent's own error, when it gave one (#9).
- Reading the screen says when an app hides its window from Buddy (Gmail does), instead of showing nothing.
- The "Phone tools in your own sessions" command for Claude Code can be run again over an earlier setup.
Updating
Buddy will tell you about this update (or ask any agent "update yourself"). Otherwise install buddy.apk below over your current Buddy; your chats, settings and sign-ins are kept.
