Buddy is on Google Play for everyone, and live voice comes to every chat.
Google Play
- Buddy is out of closed testing: anyone can install it from Google Play, and it updates through Play.
- The Play version now has Linux tools and the background browser too. Only self-updates and installing the APKs an agent builds stay in this GitHub version, because Play doesn't allow them.
- The two are separate installs (Google signs the Play one): to switch, uninstall the other one first.
- Settings has a new row: rate Buddy on Play, or in this version, open the Play listing.
Live voice in every chat
- The waveform button now shows in Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Antigravity and Grok chats, as long as Codex is signed in (the call goes through your ChatGPT plan). What you say goes to the chat's own agent.
- Answer out loud: when the agent asks a question, say a choice ("the second one") or your own answer. For an approval, a short clear "yes" or "no" answers the card; a longer sentence becomes a change request, and anything unclear makes the voice ask again. Buddy decides from what you actually said, never from the voice model.
Agents can schedule messages to themselves
- "Check the price again tomorrow at 9": the agent schedules a message to itself in that chat, and Buddy sends it at that time, also with the phone locked.
- Waiting messages show above the chat; tap one to read it, ✕ to cancel it.
Nicer replies
- Replies show Markdown: headings, bold, lists,
code, quotes and tables, in the chat and the bubble. - When a reply names a picture in Buddy's Linux (a chart the agent made, an edited photo), it shows under the reply; tap it to open it.
Fixes and other changes
- The bubble's full-size panel shows the chat again after switching from compact.
- Settings no longer has the Signed-in sites list, which didn't work; Wipe browser data clears sign-ins.
- The phone tools bridge is on npm (
npx -y buddy-phone-bridge) and the official MCP Registry.
Updating
Buddy will tell you about this update (or ask any agent "update yourself"). Otherwise install buddy.apk below over your current Buddy; your chats, settings and sign-ins are kept.
