Talk to Codex out loud, and let chats run on a schedule.
Live voice (Codex)
- A new waveform button next to the mic in Codex chats (and in the bubble's chat panel) starts a live voice call. Talk normally: Codex does what you ask on your phone and answers out loud in ChatGPT's voice, on your own ChatGPT plan.
- What you say runs as a normal task in that chat, so approval cards work as always. A spoken "yes" never approves anything: tap the card.
- The live bar shows Listening… / Thinking… / Working on it… / Speaking…, and End stops the call and the mic at once. The call also ends when the screen goes off, when Buddy is paused or after 5 minutes of silence.
- The chat keeps a transcript of both sides; the voice's lines are marked 🔊.
Scheduled tasks
- Chat options → Schedule: pick a time, the days (every day, weekdays or chosen days) and the message. At that time the chat sends it on its own, marked "Scheduled", and a notification says how it went.
- It runs with the phone locked when it doesn't need the screen (background browser, Linux tools). If it does, you get "Scheduled task needs your screen: unlock to continue".
- Optional "Wake the phone for this task" turns the screen on; it never gets past a PIN, pattern or fingerprint.
- A chat with a schedule keeps its "Allowed without asking" apps between runs.
- Android may ask you to allow exact alarms for Buddy; the Schedule sheet has a button for it.
Allowed without asking
- Shopping apps can now be added: routine taps go ahead, while buying, paying, ordering and deleting always show a card.
- Payment, bank and crypto apps are recognised by their name (bank, pay, wallet, finance, credit, crypto, trading, broker) instead of a fixed list. They can't be added and start in "always ask".
Updating
Buddy will tell you about this update (or ask any agent "update yourself"). Otherwise install buddy.apk below over your current Buddy; your chats, settings and sign-ins are kept.
