Grok joins as a fifth agent, and Linux tools are now set per chat.
Grok
- xAI's Grok Build runs inside Buddy like the other agents: install it from setup, sign in with a code (Google or X account), and it gets the phone tools and the same approval cards.
- In chats without Linux tools, Grok runs lean (no bundled skills, subagents, plan mode or memory): each step sends about 5,700 tokens instead of 19,400.
Linux tools per chat
- What was the global Developer mode is now set per chat and called Linux tools: the agent may run commands, install packages and edit files in
~/.buddy/work, so it can build and install apps. - A chip under each chat's title shows whether the chat has them; tap it to switch (turning them on asks first).
- New chat has a Linux tools switch, and Settings → Linux tools in new chats sets the default. Your existing chats keep the setting they had.
- Installing an APK follows the chat's own setting, and the agent is told whether its chat has Linux tools and where you turn them on.
For agents
- The phone tools have clearer descriptions (when to use each one and what it returns), and Buddy's MCP server gives agents a short guide to working with them.
- New: mcp-bridge, Buddy's phone tools over stdio for MCP clients that start servers as commands.
Updating
Buddy will tell you about this update (or ask any agent "update yourself"). Otherwise install buddy.apk below over your current Buddy; your chats, settings and sign-ins are kept.
