umbrelOS 2.0 Beta 2 brings redesigned search, faster Photos, AI agents that can use your virtual machines, and several improvements throughout umbrelOS.
- Redesigned search across apps, files, photos, and settings, with visual results and keyboard navigation.
- Your AI agents can now create and use Machines, with screen, keyboard, and mouse access while you watch.
- New: Omarchy is now available in Machines on Intel and AMD devices.
- Android machines now open in portrait mode, with Google apps and improved ARM app compatibility in newly created machines.
- Track uploads, copies, and moves in one Transfers LiveTile, with progress, conflict resolution, retries, and cancellation controls.
Beta 2 also includes these fixes and improvements:
- Automatically reclaim storage occupied by stale/outdated app docker images.
- Fix backup cleanup on devices with custom hostnames, allowing expired backups to release storage.
- Improve responsiveness under heavy disk activity and memory pressure, including on Umbrel Pro and devices using certain USB-to-SATA adapters.
- Add support for newer Realtek 2.5Gb Ethernet controllers.
- Keep disconnected network storage visible in Files and restore access when it reconnects.
- Fix drag-and-drop after hovering over a folder to open it.
- Improve file indexing reliability and reduce background work caused by large app-data folders.
- Improve app startup and update reliability, with clearer progress and error reporting.
- Restore app access through local reverse proxies and add support for preserving native app certificates.
- Fix machine downloads failing when a network address is unreachable.
- Refine App Store layouts, cloud-storage setup, and storage setup in Safari and Firefox.
