New

  • The metadata dialog in a page's Media panel now shows the same file details as the Media manager's side panel: a preview, the path, type, size, dimensions and last-modified date, and copyable rows for the file's URL and markdown snippet. The details sit beside the metadata fields where the screen is wide enough, and stack on a narrow one. It also opens for accounts without media write access, which can read the details but not change them.

Improved

  • Oversized images are shrunk before they are uploaded again. The old admin has always been able to cap uploaded images to a maximum size and refuse ones outside a resolution range, set under Configuration, and those settings were being ignored here. They now work the same way on every upload in the new admin: page media, the Media manager and file fields in a form getgrav/grav-plugin-api#41
  • The Pages screen opens in Columns by default. That was the default in Grav 1.7 and it suits how most sites are organised better than the tree does. Anyone who has already chosen a view keeps it.
  • Thumbnails in a page's Media panel no longer grow with the panel. The grid was three columns wide whatever the space, so a few files on a wide screen became huge tiles; it now adds columns instead, and a tile stops at 176px.
  • The page list now tells apart four publication states instead of two: published, draft, scheduled and expired. Each has its own icon as well as its own colour, so they stay readable in greyscale and for colourblind readers, and hovering a scheduled or expired page names the date it is waiting on. Requires the API plugin 1.0.35 or later; against an older API the list reads published and draft as before. getgrav/grav-plugin-admin#2523
  • The tree, list and column views of the page list now share one status marker, so all three read the same and the labels are translatable.

Bugfix

  • Adding a page under a parent that declares a child_type now preselects that template, the way the old admin did. A blog built on Quark, whose blog template asks for item children, created plain default pages instead. The template is only preselected, not locked, so a different one can still be chosen, and a ?template= link still wins. Thanks to @onetrev getgrav/grav-plugin-admin2#175
