First working build of Highball, the open-source Whisky successor.
Working end to end (verified on M1 Pro, macOS 14.6): engine install from pinned SHA-256 manifests → bottle → Steam 64-bit login → game, with per-bottle renderer switching (DXMT / D3DMetal / DXVK / WineD3D). Includes the SwiftUI app and the highball CLI.
Install: unzip, move Highball.app to Applications. Signed with Developer ID but not yet notarized — first launch needs right-click → Open. Requires Apple Silicon, macOS 14+, Rosetta 2. The app downloads its Wine engine (~500 MB) on first run; D3DMetal is optional behind Apple's GPTK license.
Data: compatibility database at https://gauthierpiarrette.github.io/highball-db/ — contribute with highball report.
Known truths worth reading before filing issues: Steam requires sync=none (msync/esync hang its CEF webhelper); the first Steam client update is slow (~20 min) under WoW64+Rosetta; kernel anti-cheat titles are impossible and flagged in the DB.
