If you're on 2.2, your phone will offer this update on its own — including sending it to the watch over Bluetooth. First release where nobody needs a cable. 🎉
Two new faces (Beta)
- Vinyl (Beta): the album art becomes a slowly spinning record — groove rings, accent label and spindle hole — with the playback progress as an accent arc around the rim and glass prev/next buttons beside it. Tap the record to play/pause (it stops spinning and shows a play badge while paused); double-tap and long-press keep their quick-panel / queue roles.
- Poster (Beta): a flat, typography-first look — deep tonal backdrop from the album's accent, big two-line title with the artist in small caps, squared transport buttons and a straight progress bar.
- Both bring their own outlined always-on-display variant (burn-in safe), honor all AOD toggles and colors, appear in the phone's live Watch-face preview, and keep the mini buttons / quick panel exactly where the other faces have them. Marked Beta — visual adjustments may follow from feedback.
New styles
- Progress ring (classic face / expressive "edge" seek): Solid, Dashed, Dots, Hairline and Comet.
- Volume overlay: three new styles — Segments, Aurora and Ink (16 total now).
- Seek time readout while scrubbing: Plain, Glass pill, Giant, or Position / total.
Tile / widget
- New −10s / +10s seek row under prev/play/next (thanks, Pixel Watch 3 feedback!). The jump is resolved against the phone's live position, so it's accurate even when the Tile's snapshot is stale.
Fixes
- Fixed the edge progress ring reappearing over the Expressive face after every always-on-display round trip, even with the central or hidden seek mode selected.
- The AOD title now follows the AOD color mode — with "album accent" (or a custom color) selected it tints along with the outlines instead of staying white.
Other
- The persistent "controls active" notification gained two explicit actions: Stop (what tapping already did) and Force stop (fully kills the app process and detaches the notification listener).
- Watch recents chip and complication now show "Title • Artist".
- Firebase Analytics is back (anonymous, auto-collected events only) to help development; the README/landing-page privacy notes were updated to match.
Installing
On 2.2+: just accept the update notification (Settings → Updates → Check for updates now works too), then hit Update watch. Older versions: sideload mobile-release.apk and wear-release.apk manually one last time.
