SM64 Co-Op DX VR v0.5.5
This release brings the current PC VR feature set together with matching Quest standalone parity.
Highlights
- Optional FPS counter beneath the lives counter

- Default-on body hiding during native ledge grabs, hangs, climb-downs, and pull-ups

- Moving-pole, held-object, snow/effect interpolation, climbing, collision, and interaction fixes accumulated since v0.5.0
- Save-safe update notifier and cleanup of update-check and VR gesture lifetime paths
Install
- Download SM64-Co-Op-DX-VR-Windows-v0.5.5.zip below.
- Extract the complete ZIP to a normal writable folder.
- Start your headset software and select your OpenXR runtime.
- Run SM64-Co-Op-DX-VR.exe.
- On first launch, supply your own legally obtained, unmodified Super Mario 64 US ROM when prompted.
- Open Settings > VR, enable VR Mode, and recalibrate tracking if needed.
The archive contains no ROM or Nintendo game assets. Do not run the executable from inside the ZIP.
Controls and documentation
The ZIP includes a player guide. The repository README documents controller mappings, physical climbing, grabbing, cap gestures, Bowser throws, camera modes, comfort settings, performance controls, and troubleshooting.
The Quest standalone edition is available separately: SM64 Co-Op DX VR Standalone.
Testing note
This remains an active fan project. Quest 3 through Virtual Desktop OpenXR is the most-tested PC setup. Other OpenXR runtimes, headsets, multiplayer configurations, ROM hacks, mods, and levels are not comprehensively tested.
