5.11.0 brought a lot of new ghosts, and some of them were no ghosts at all. This one cleans up after it.

The Assist duplicate names repair is gone. It took "exposed to Assist" for "asked for by Assist", and every new entity is exposed by default. That meant over a hundred repairs for plenty of people who never talk to Assist at all, and on big houses it kept Home Assistant busy enough at startup to become unusable. No tuning fixes a check that reads the wrong signal, so it is removed. The repairs it raised clear after a restart.

Fewer false alarms. Things 5.11.0 reported that work just fine:

  • theme: Backend-selected, which older versions of the theme picker wrote all over dashboards.
  • A template comparing trigger.platform with sun.dusk, or an event type with timer.finished.
  • Triggers a blueprint switches off with a template in enabled, picked by an input, like in Cover Control Automation. Only for blueprints: a template you wrote yourself is still checked.
  • browser_mod's browser_entities.browserID.
  • Entity IDs of another Home Assistant, used as keys with .get() in data a REST sensor handed over.
  • A "did you mean" pointing a template sensor at itself, and one suggesting hvac_modes for hvac_mode. A climate entity's state is its HVAC mode, and the repair now says exactly that.

Crashes and slowness. A custom card with its own action setting, like the Mediocre Media Player cards, crashed the dashboard icon and view checks on every look. Integrations writing new sources or options to the entity registry, which some do all day long, no longer have every repair look at the whole house again: on one big house that took 10 seconds each time. And a repair about a missing attribute now goes away as soon as the attribute is back, instead of up to a day later.

Seeing repairs titled like spook: lovelace_unknown_theme_references after updating? That is your browser holding on to Spook's texts from before the update. Reload the page, or reset the frontend cache in the companion app.

Thanks @holland-built and @HaydenGriffin for the fixes, @nathan-curtis for digging into the startup freeze, and @alexruffell, @Mayhem-SWE, @stappel, @cerebrate, @promufa, @DO4SKE, @spali, @Dzoker2, @ABEIDO, @erkr, @rononline, @Mariusthvdb, @jds13, @uvjim and @ErichDonGubler for the reports and the patience. And the translators on Weblate, with a nod to Branislav Maricic and Simon. 🫶
