English

  • DLSS now uses its newer model (M by default) and no longer flickers on light shafts and caustics, such as underwater on the world map. Settings → Graphics adds DLSS model (M or L).
  • HDR settings are hidden while HDR is off.
  • DLSS, FSR, XeSS and MetalFX no longer switch off during the game's screen fades (camera cuts, menus, battle intros, victory shots), so the picture stays sharp and ambient occlusion and frame generation stay on.
  • Fixed short stutters with DLSS frame generation, mostly in battles, on Vulkan and Direct3D 12.
  • Fixed a Vulkan crash a few seconds after startup on NVIDIA GPUs when ReShade's dxgi.dll is in the game folder; ReShade still works with Direct3D 12 (#323).
  • With DLSS, FSR, XeSS or MetalFX on, a Render resolution above the output now supersamples: the upscaler outputs at that resolution and the picture is scaled down to the window or screen (#332).
  • On Windows, 5.1 surround no longer drops to stereo on outputs that report stereo but take a 5.1 mix, such as optical outputs with Dolby Digital Live or DTS, or after the speaker setup changes while the game runs (#174).
  • New Matrix surround choice in Settings → Audio → Audio output: the 5.1 mix is encoded into stereo, over any stereo connection such as optical, for an AV receiver's Pro Logic II, Dolby Surround or Neural:X mode to spread back to surround speakers. Rear angle sets where the rear channels sound, 90°–150° (110° is the Pro Logic II standard); while it is selected, a test sound circles the speakers on a 5.1 layout (#174).
  • The HDR page's scene preview now follows the peak brightness with DLSS, FSR or XeSS on.
  • New DLSS 5 neural rendering setting in Settings → Graphics on Windows with DLSS: Off or 1×–4× passes. Confirm on it opens a tuning page with model, intensity, tone, structure, skin and character mask, previewed live on the current scene. It needs an RTX GPU and your own nvngx_dlssnr.dll next to the game; the game does not include it.
  • Settings → Graphics now lists upscaling, DLSS 5 neural rendering and frame generation together in one group.
  • Mod Organizer 2 support: a game plugin lets MO2 manage the mods in the game's mods/ folder. Mod folders reached through symbolic links now load too.
  • The Settings menu now moves like the game's own menus: the cursor arrow slides between rows and sways while idle, the rows fade in one after another when it opens, prompts dim the screen behind them, and it fades out before closing (#151).
  • Mod authors can export the game's textures (PNG with their mod keys), CG movies and text (JSON, the starting point for translations) from their own game data with --export-assets, or from a new Mod Organizer 2 tool.
  • Experimental, Windows only: mods can replace the textures the game draws, at the original size or up to 8x larger. Replacements load in the background, so a new texture can show the original for a moment. See the modding guide.
  • Experimental, Windows only: mods can translate the game's text (menus, item and skill names and descriptions, battle messages, dialogue, subtitles), including text longer than the original. See the modding guide.
  • Experimental, Windows only: a translation mod can be a language pack, a new choice in Settings → System → Game language (#369). --export-language-pack and the Mod Organizer 2 tool export one ready to translate and clean it for sharing.
  • New Culling setting in Settings → Graphics, 0%–200%. 100% is the original. Lower values keep characters and objects at the screen edges visible until they are fully off screen; higher values hide them sooner (#342).
  • Optional diagnostics on Windows now send a short summary of the previous session's log (errors, crashes, hangs, rendering mismatches and map names) instead of TAA shader data. The game asks again before sending anything.
  • The log now keeps only notices, warnings and errors. Turn on Settings → System → Debug log for the full log.
  • Windows no longer opens the setup page at the first launch: the game starts with default settings, which Settings changes (--setup still opens the page). Opening Settings no longer asks about log collection; the first launch still asks once.
  • Settings opens from the title menu with Y (S on the keyboard), shown at the bottom right, so settings can be changed before loading a save. Options stored in the save are hidden there.
  • Fixed hitches the first time you enter an area, such as the world map.
  • Startup no longer waits for pipeline preparation; it continues in the background with a progress bar at the bottom of the screen.
  • Mods can now ship as one folder with their own overlay files and a name, version and author; Mod Organizer 2 installs them as they are.
  • Settings → System → Mods lists installed mods: turn them on or off and change their order (applies after a restart).
