This release adds local user accounts, granular permissions, passkey login, and notifications.
You will have to create an Owner after the update (not on desktop installs).
✨ New
- Users and permissions - create local accounts with protected sessions and grant access per library and action, including read-only browsing, scans, exports, media access, transcoding, connectors, and shared settings. Queued user jobs are revoked when required access is removed. Optional Guest access has its own permissions (#169). Passkey login is supported.
- Notifications - receive configurable notifications and completion messages for manually started scans, transcodes, connector syncs, and history reconstruction. Search your notification history and follow links to results.
✨ Enhancements
- Group scan logs, transcoding history, notification history, and retention settings under Logs.
- Organize App settings into collapsible sections and move resolution categories into Quality profiles → Resolutions.
- Reduce memory usage during history reconstruction and storage forecasting, coordinate maintenance independently of scan workers, and show clearer queued status and retry controls when reconstruction status cannot be refreshed.
- Show loading indicators for dashboard totals and Storage Map navigation, including a reduced-motion alternative, and apply valid file searches immediately when pressing Enter.
- Reduce memory usage during connector rematching and Storage Map aggregation.
🐛 Bug fixes
- Fix the server error when a library gets a second folder with the same name as an existing one (#197 fixed in #198 by @Rahul-cs50).
- Fix the server error when saving transcoding settings while CPU parallel jobs is set to Auto (#199 fixed in #200 by @Rahul-cs50).
- Preserve Desktop layouts and appearance across application restarts.
- Align synchronized video wipe sides with the selected file order in Compare files and linked-variant previews.
- Keep expanded scan-log sections open when copying troubleshooting details.
🔒 Security
- Update the Certifi CA bundle and affected frontend and desktop build dependencies to address known security advisories.
Upgrade notes
- Existing server libraries, analysis data, and history are retained. Create an Owner account on first access after upgrading, or configure
OWNER_USERNAMEandOWNER_PASSWORD. See Users and access for setup and permissions. - Guest access is optional and can be configured with
GUEST_ENABLED. SetNO_USERS=trueonly for an intentionally account-free server where every visitor should have full access. Desktop continues without account setup. - Passkeys require a supported secure browser origin, normally HTTPS. A reverse proxy must preserve the browser's Host; no public-URL setting is required.
