What's New

This release focuses on Google Fonts compliance improvements in preparation for directory submission.

Font Quality Fixes

  • Vertical metrics — corrected sTypoAscender, sTypoDescender, usWinAscent, usWinDescent to match Google Fonts requirements
  • Font versionhead.fontRevision now explicitly matches version string 1.100
  • PANOSE — fixed bProportion to correctly reflect the mixed-width nature of the font
  • Designer name — added Name ID 9 to the name table
  • STAT table — restructured from Format 4 (multi-axis) to Format 1/3 (single-axis) with correct GF Axis Registry coordinates (wdth 50=UltraCondensed, 150=ExtraExpanded)
  • Mac name entries — stripped all Mac platform name table entries per Google Fonts policy
  • Smart dropout — added prep table with TrueType smart dropout control for consistent rendering across devices
  • ScriptLangTags — added meta table declaring Latin script support (dlng/slng)

Named Instances

Renamed cross-axis instances to use STAT-derivable name combinations per GF Axis Registry:

  • ThinNarrow → Thin UltraCondensed
  • LightCompact → Light Condensed
  • LightWide → Light ExtraExpanded
  • MediumWide → Medium Expanded
  • SemiBoldCompact → SemiBold Condensed
  • BlackWide → Black ExtraExpanded
