Crucible Version 0.7.0 - "V13 Beta"
Hello everyone, at long last there is a new published Crucible system version! Version 0.7.0 adds a ton of new features but also focuses heavily on Version 13 compatibility.
Crucible version 0.7.0 requires Foundry VTT version 13 (13.344 recommended).
There is still a lot of work to do, both on new features as well as on V13 compatibility. This first release is a "V13 Beta" and further releases will follow in the days and weeks to come.
Major Features
- A brand new approach to Character Creation inspired by Ember and designed to integrate with Ember. This full screen character creation UI walks you through the process of making a "Hero" character in Crucible.
- Skill advancement no longer uses a separate points system and now integrates directly with the talent tree via training nodes. There will be further work to refine this system going forward.
- Comprehensive V13 compatibility work: all applications are defined using ApplicationV2, and the system has moved to using CSS layers for styling.
- Mechanical rebalances to weapons and armor types.
- Restructuring of the talent tree and re-allocation of talents to new nodes.
- A ton of internal code quality improvements, refactors, and redesigns.
- A ton of bug fixes.
- Ancestries, Backgrounds, Taxonomies, and Archetypes may now all provide Talents.
- Add a brand new group actor type and corresponding sheet.
- Use a player character (hero) ancestry on an Adversary and automatically convert it to a Taxonomy on the fly.
- Improve ProseMirror implementation and implement Code Mirror for all code editors (like actor hooks or action hooks)
- Add training progression for weapon types.
- Add placeholder training progression for tradecraft skills.
- Since the talent tree is still under active development, allow purchasing an empty talent node so that lack of talents does not block progression through the tree.
- Major improvements to how the talent tree is declared and configured.
- Major standardization of data models and sheet class design patterns.
- Add a new "Origin" talent node which is generally where talents provided via an Ancestry or Background or other unique character grant will go.
- Support everything that Ember needs for Crucible integrated character creation.
- Much more that I'm definitely forgetting about.
