Highlights
- Talent Tree Filter: Search the talent tree by text and filter it by keyword, with every hero and adversary talent now classified by keywords, and animated edges drawn between nodes.
- Talent Tree Animation: A beautiful new shader effect visualizes the network of edges that connect nodes on the talent tree.
- Maintained Effects Rework: Maintained effects become due at the start of your turn and lapse at the end of it unless you pay their Focus cost with the new Maintain action, with a limit on how many effects you may maintain at once.
- Beastmaster: The Beastmaster signature talent is now automated, letting you bond a beast companion of the Air, Land, or Sea which fights alongside you.
- Improved Enricherss: Encounter difficulty tiers with an
[[/encounterDifficulty]]enricher, multi-skill and group[[/skillCheck]]enrichers, and extensions of the@Lootenricher, and more. - Configurable Effect Removal: Action effects can be configured as removable with a fixed or automatically derived removal DC, or as unremovable.
New Features
Combat and Actions
- Overhauled maintained effects. A maintained effect becomes due (suppressed) at the start of your turn and is removed at the end of your turn unless you pay its Focus cost using the new Maintain action. You may maintain a limited number of effects at once (one by default, raised by certain talents), and choose which effect ends when a new maintained action would exceed that limit.
- Implemented the Beastmaster signature talent. Bond Companion creates a companion of the Air, Land, or Sea at half your level, Release Companion parts ways with it, and Exploit Opening lets you make an Accurate Strike against a Flanked target engaged by your companion. Companions gain the Flanking Maneuver and Loyal Protector talents. #1626
- Allowed shields to be tagged as
naturalweapons, so that creatures with natural defenses satisfy "has a shield" requirements for talents and other mechanics. #1644 - Triggered falling when a Region or Region Behavior change causes a supporting surface to disappear or materialize. #1621
- Skipped the application of a Crucible Action region behavior while the active effect which created it is suppressed. #1659
Encounters and Game Mastering
- Documented encounter difficulty tiers and their threat ratio ranges, and added an
[[/encounterDifficulty {threat}]]enricher which displays an encounter's difficulty relative to the current party level. #1636 - Allowed a
[[/skillCheck]]enricher to define multiple skills, for individual rolls with a choice of skill or for group skill challenges. #1613 - Added optional
descriptionandimgparameters to the@Lootenricher, which replace the base item's public description and image. #1637 - Gave the
@Lootenricher a rich Crucible tooltip previewing the lootable item. #1638 - Allowed
brokento be specified as a bare keyword in the@Lootenricher. - Allowed the
[[/milestone]]enricher to specify an explicit identifier and label. - Improved the party sheet with better controls for member quantity and milestone tracking. #1646
- Sorted party sheet members with heroes before adversaries, then by highest threat first. #1645
Talent Tree
- Added a Talent Tree Filter for searching talents on the tree by text, with additional filtering fields and a separate playstyle filter. #1651
- Assigned an initial keyword categorization to all hero and adversary talents. #1653
- Replaced the talent tree's connecting lines with a custom shaded mesh which draws animated edges between nodes. #1654
Journals, Chat, and Audio

- Refined the Crucible system-provided blockquote and read-aloud styles. #1630

- Added a Crucible system framework for footfall audio, ported from Ember. #1635
- Added ice and snow footfall sounds.
Interface and Rules
- Allowed an action's effect to be configured in the Action effect UI as removable, with either a fixed removal DC or one derived from the action's roll when left blank, or as unremovable. #1661
- Consolidated the effect duration value and units into a single row of the Action effect UI.
- Added Rule tags for item quality tiers. #1642
- Added support for the
@Rule[dice.dc]tag. - Replaced anchor-based
a.buttonanda.controlcontrols with<button>elements throughout Crucible sheets. #1660

CrucibleTooltipManager, registered asCONFIG.ux.TooltipManager, which extends the way core tooltips are rendered. Crucible tooltip handling now lives inmodule/tooltip-manager.mjs, andcrucible.api.interactionhas been removed. #1657 - Added a
system.suppressionrecord to Crucible base Active Effects, allowing an effect to be suppressed for named reasons. - Added
maintainedandremovableActive Effect properties,CrucibleBaseActiveEffect#getMaintainAction, theresources.focus.maintainedlimit, and an optionalusage.maintainedEffectIdfor the Maintain action. - An Action effect's removal DC may now be left undefined at the Action level and is derived when the effect is created;
nulldeclares an unremovable effect, and any finite DC grants theremovableproperty. #1661 - Added a framework for talent keywords (
system.keywords). - Structured
CrucibleTokenMovementAnimationas the integration point for token movement animation in downstream modules, and aligned per-footstep material determination across systems. - Allowed nullable values in Archetype training weights, used when a proficiency is removed from the Archetype of a synthetic (unlinked token) actor. #1631
