Serverus v1.8.0

The master password is now optional, file-pane columns can be resized, and a round of transfer fixes keeps cancelled, retried and accelerated transfers from touching files they shouldn't.

No master password, if you prefer. When you create a vault you can choose "Continue without a master password", and an existing vault can drop its password in Settings → Vault. Such a vault opens straight away at startup, with no lock button and no auto-lock. It is still stored in the same file format, but anyone who can read the file can read your saved passwords and keys, so this is your call. Removing the password asks you to confirm with the current password or Touch ID / Windows Hello, and you can set a password again at any time. (#34)

Resizable columns. Drag the edge of the Size, Date or Mode column header to resize it; double-click the edge to reset it. The widths are remembered. The Date column fits its dates by default, and hovering a date shows the full date and time. (#35)

Transfer fixes

  • A folder downloaded with tar acceleration can only be written inside that folder, whatever the server sends.
  • Cancelling a transfer, a failed transfer, or closing the tab no longer deletes the original file at the destination when the transfer never got to write to it. On S3, a cancelled upload never deletes the existing object.
  • After choosing Rename in a conflict, a retry keeps writing to the renamed file instead of appending to the original.
  • tar acceleration is used only when nothing would be overwritten without asking; otherwise folders are transferred file by file, so Ask, Skip and Rename apply as usual.
  • Downloading a symlinked folder with tar acceleration now downloads its contents instead of finishing with nothing.
  • Accelerated (tar) uploads can be paused. Accelerated downloads can be cancelled at any time but not paused; the Pause button is no longer offered for them.
  • FTP: hidden files such as .htaccess and .env now show up and are included in folder downloads, uploads and deletes. Many FTP servers hide them from a plain listing by default.

Other fixes

  • Pressing Esc in a dialog closes only that dialog, not the one under it, and ⌘W / ⌘T / ⌘1–9 no longer act on the tabs behind an open dialog.
  • SFTP-only connections never open a shell, even while the vault is locked.
  • Importing a config file no longer changes your editor or security settings (auto-lock, Touch ID).
