Right friends, sorry for the lack of love I showed Jotty lately but life has been a bit of a bitch like some of you may know and my time for oss halved (that's being generous). That said things are way more stable and we're back with a bang babe!

First and foremost, the official site got revamped to better showcase the look and feel of the app: https://jotty.page

Then let me address a nasty elephant in the room.. this release introduces a database (I KNOW! DAMMIT!!). Don't worry tho, it's just a way to handle indexes going forward (you can actually delete the index.json files after this release) and if you delete it/corrupt it, jotty will simply re-create it. So whilst it's a database, Jotty absolutely does not depend on it, so please be kind to it as it allows for some seriously cool shit.

• Add MCP server for remote Jotty access via REST API - Thank you @dawiddyd
• Updated the linked notes/checklists brain view to work and feel better, be more modern and frankly kickass, I really love how it came out but I very much welcome feedback. It has both a 3D and 2D view (mobile honestly works better in 2D)
• Added item links, wikilinks, inline link suggestions, backlinks, mention linking, and relationship details. This should make sharing note folders between Jotty and Obsidian much easier. It was a hugely requested feature (always has been, but lately a discord member (Redblood) convinced me to do it, and after all the uuid work I did it's very much doable. Had to make the compromise mentioned at the top of the release notes however.
• Linked items now display more clearly, with previews; improved sharing permissions and account-deletion cleanup. This also applies to checklists/kanban which means you can finally link tasks to notes.
• Added relationship indexing status and index-rebuild controls.
• Add a switch that inserts new items at the end of a checklist #434 - Thank you @dawiddyd
• User settings now save on item changes without the need to hit the button, it also is divided in neat accordions

api changes

• A lot of the api got re-built from the ground up with this version, everything should behave as it previously did, but it will now finally be more scalable and will have stricter schema, which makes the MCP very safe to use compared to if the api would have been as open as before.
• This also comes with a handy api section in the howto guides where you can test each endpoint straight from within Jotty, it'll help you debug/build your integrations easily.
• Added a batch list by IDs endpoint
• Added a docs endpoint in case you want to get a LLM to do stuff in Jotty, it can read the docs via MCP/API
• Added various brain endpoints
• Added tagging/untagging endpoints

Things that might behave differently (probably for the best lmfao)

• GET /api/logs and POST /api/logs/export check startDate and endDate now. Use real ISO 8601 dates (2024-05-01 or 2024-05-01T09:30:00Z), keep the start before the end, and keep the range to 366 days or less. Anything else gets a 400. With neither set, you still get the last 30 days.
• Export filenames end in a random token. Scripts that follow the downloadUrl the API returns keep working. Scripts that build the filename themselves will break.
• The "all users data" and "whole data folder" exports now download only from a logged-in browser. An admin API key gets a 404.
• POST /api/exports returns a 400 for a username that doesn't exist.
• With the filename mode set to "none", Jotty strips /, \ and leading dots from titles before turning them into filenames. The title you see doesn't change. A checklist whose filename came from a title like that may get renamed the next time you save it.
• A custom PGP key path inside the data folder is refused. If you already set one, Jotty ignores it and uses your normal key folder.Paths outside data work as before.
• On the sessions page you can only end your own sessions.
