DLSS 5 add-on 8.5 is the default, with its faster settings set for you

8.5 first

Games with their own DLSS now start on the RenoDX DLSS 5 add-on, newest build. Release candidates count, so today that's 8.5.0-rc10; the newest stable build is still 6.5.3. ShortFuse's add-on is the next step down. Stable builds only under Show advanced options (saved for every game), or --addon=stable, skips the release candidates. --addon=rc takes them whatever the setting says.

Faster settings, written for you

On 8.x, in a game with its own DLSS, Install adds these to ReShade.ini → [RenoDX.DLSS5]:

  • NRHookPoint=1, Render: DLSS 5 runs on the game's image before DLSS upscales it, so it works on far fewer pixels. With Ray Reconstruction on, the add-on goes back to Upscaled by itself.
  • NRPasses=1: a second stacked pass doubles the cost.
  • NRDetailStability=2, Always: keeps grass and leaves from flickering under Render.

Each key is written only when it's missing, so anything you change in the add-on's panel stays. The look sliders are left at the add-on's defaults. Games on the Feeder keep the add-on's defaults too.

Checked in Dead Space: the add-on's card reads "Neural Rendering is active — Enhancing the game's DLSS input before upscaling", at 3.3 ms per frame.

EnableHooks is deliberately not set. With no key, the add-on uses NVIDIA's NGX library and switches its Streamline hooks on by itself when a Streamline game needs them. 1 forces those hooks from the start, and the add-on warns that can crash a game at boot. A test build this morning wrote EnableHooks=1 in Streamline games. Those games show UPDATE, and Update takes it back out.

DirectX 11: no second bridge

8.x bridges DirectX 11 itself. With a second bridge loaded, it leaves the game's own DLSS alone and does nothing. So on 8.x, dlss5-bridge is no longer installed, and a copy this tool placed earlier is removed. Builds before 8 still get it.

Updating

  • A game on 6.5.3 shows UPDATE and moves to 8.5.0-rc10.
  • A game on ShortFuse's add-on from when that was the default also shows UPDATE and moves to the DLSS 5 add-on.
  • ShortFuse reached through Not working? Try the next setup, or picked under Advanced, stays where it is. So does Dragon's Dogma 2, whose list starts on 4.70 (#96).
  • If a game looks or runs worse on 8.5, Try the next setup puts it on ShortFuse, and it stays there.

EA app and Ubisoft Connect games on the Games page

Game Pass titles from EA and Ubisoft install through those launchers, not as Xbox apps, so they never showed on the Games page. Dead Space, Assassin's Creed Shadows and The Rogue Prince of Persia are examples. They now appear under EA app and Ubisoft Connect, as do games bought in those launchers.

They're found from the launchers' registry entries and from the marker file each launcher leaves in the game folder (__Installer\installerdata.xml, uplay_install.state). So a copy moved to another drive or PC still shows. The app looks one folder below each drive root, its XboxGames folder, EA Games, Games and the launchers' default folders. For a game deeper than that, use Add a folder.

Fixes

  • The newest-build lookup no longer falls back to the stable build when one request to GitHub fails.
  • README: 64-bit DirectX 10 games (Crysis in 64-bit) are listed under "Not handled". The Feeder's DirectX 10 support is in its 32-bit add-on only. 64-bit support has been requested upstream (DLSS5-Feeder#134, #114).

Upstream: DLSS5-Feeder 1.17.0 (stable, checksum verified) is picked up automatically.

Everything from v0.14.1 is included.
