The setup is picked for you, and ShortFuse's DLSS add-on is the default

One line, one button

The Setup page now tells you the setup Install will use and why, in one line. For example: ReShade + ShortFuse's DLSS add-on — the game has its own DLSS · DX12 · RTX 40. It is worked out from what the app detects: whether the game ships its own DLSS, the DirectX version, 32 or 64-bit, and your card. Everything you could choose before (engines, neural add-on, builds, frame generation, model resolution) is behind Show advanced options, closed by default.

ShortFuse's DLSS add-on is the default in games with their own DLSS

For a 64-bit game that ships its own DLSS, the app now installs ShortFuse's DLSS add-on (renodx-dlss.addon64), from the author of RenoDX. It hooks the game's own DLSS in DX11 and DX12 itself, so no DX11 bridge is installed with it. The DLSS 5 model is the same 310.8.SF-v2 that runs on RTX 20 to 50. The game's own DLSS files are left alone. In game: Home → Add-ons → RenoDX DLSS, then turn Neural Rendering on.

Not working? Try the next setup

Once a game is set up, "Not working? Try the next setup" moves it one step down its list and installs that. For a 64-bit game with its own DLSS the list is:

  1. ShortFuse's DLSS add-on
  2. RenoDX DLSS 5 add-on, newest stable build (6.5.3 today; release candidates like 7.0.0-rc8 are skipped)
  3. the same add-on at 4.70 (the last build with Enable Upscaling)
  4. the same add-on at 4.55
  5. the OptiScaler engine

When the engine changes, the old one is taken out first, and the RenoDX HDR mod goes back in if you had it. If the game has ReShade add-ons this app did not install, the switch is refused before anything is removed. Games without DLSS of their own use the Feeder with the DLSS 5 add-on (newest, then 4.70, then 4.55). Cyberpunk 2077 starts on OptiScaler (#95) and Dragon's Dogma 2 on 4.70 (#96).

Your existing installs stay as they are

The app reads which step a game is on from its folder: the add-on and the build recorded beside it, or the OptiScaler manifest. Install and Update refresh the setup a game already has instead of switching it. That includes a pinned 4.70 or 4.55 build, an OptiScaler install, and Neural Upstream or the standalone AIO picked by hand. Only "Try the next setup" or the advanced options change it. Where a game's log shows the newer add-on builds faulting in the driver, Install still drops to 4.55 by itself (#69).

Also

  • RTX 20/30 cards get 75% model resolution on a new OptiScaler install, except on the builds that flicker below 100%. An existing install keeps its own setting.
  • A ShortFuse add-on you placed yourself is never deleted; Remove and every route leave it alone.
  • Update checks make one request for the release list instead of four.
  • Command line: --next-setup, --consumer=sf|dlss5; --check prints the setup it would use.

Everything from v0.13.27 is included.
