Minor Changes

  • eb79ef0: Flow steps can reference channels (channel: { id, version }), drawn as channel nodes with a link to their docs. A step's title is now optional and defaults to the name of what it references (or the actor, external system or custom node's name, or the step's id); a custom node's title defaults to the step's title. Mistakes in flows no longer fail silently: unknown step properties fail the build (custom ones must start with x-), steps that use two node types or both next_step and next_steps fail with a message naming the step and what to change, and a next_step to a step that doesn't exist, or a reference to a resource that isn't in the catalog, logs a warning naming the flow and step. The step type field is still accepted but ignored. The linter checks the same rules, adds refs/flow-step-exists for next steps that aren't in the flow, and checks channel references in flow steps. The SDK adds FlowBuilder.addChannelStep, channel on FlowStep, an optional title, and accepts system and channel references when parsing an index.

Patch Changes

  • eb79ef0: Explain a missing or invalid ADR status or date clearly. A missing date was reported as Expected type `"date"`, received `"object"` (with the field name garbled) by the build, and as Invalid date by the linter. The build now reports Required: a date, e.g. 2026-06-01 or Invalid date: use a date, e.g. 2026-06-01, and a missing status lists the allowed values. The linter reports a missing date as missing.

  • eb79ef0: Fix several npm audit findings in new catalogs: upgrade astro-seo to 1.x (it no longer installs @astrojs/check) and hono to a version with the hono/jsx XSS fix, remove shelljs from core, and replace fast-glob with glob in the linter.

  • eb79ef0: @eventcatalog/core 5.0.0 (including its pre-releases) and later is licensed under the Business Source License 1.1 (BUSL-1.1), replacing the MIT License and the separate EventCatalog Commercial License for the enterprise and federation code. Releases up to and including 4.x remain available under the MIT License, and their notice is kept in NOTICE.

The ecosystem packages, including @eventcatalog/create-eventcatalog, stay MIT and now ship their own LICENSE file. New catalogs get a License section in their README that links to the Business Source License and notes that the catalog's own content belongs to its authors. @eventcatalog/breaking-changes moves from ISC to MIT.

  • eb79ef0: Stop structure/unrecognised-file reporting usage examples in a message's examples/ folder (events, commands and queries, including versioned ones). They're loaded by EventCatalog as examples, not resources.

  • eb79ef0: fix(linter): treat a resource id such as __proto__ as any other id, rather than crashing
