Overview
The 8.9.1 release of ESMF is a patch release to the previously released 8.9.0. Please see the release notes below for a description of the changes.
Release Notes
- This patch release is backward compatible with ESMF 8.9.0. There were no API changes in this release.
- No bit-for-bit changes are expected for this release compared to ESMF 8.9.0.
- No changes were made to the ESMF regrid weight generation methods and applications. The ESMF tables summarizing the ESMF regridding status are unchanged.
- Fixed the ESMPy Regrid class to enable the large_file argument. This allows users to write weight files containing variables larger than 2GB through that class.
- Corrected a bug in the NUOPC_Connector implementation where the settings of attributes EpochEnterKeepAlloc and EpochExitKeepAlloc were ignored, and defaults used instead. Now the settings are correctly passed into the ESMF communications layer, allowing the user to control whether communication buffers are deallocated between VM epochs as documented under the Connector Component Metadata table.
- Added a code change that works around a strange hanging issue that occurs with IntelLLVM+ IntelMPI inside a utility function used by ESMF_StateReconcile(). No hangs have been observed with the work around in place.
