github elegos/Linux-Arctis-Manager v3.0.0-beta1

pre-release2 hours ago

First beta version of the v3 rust-based service rewrite.

The following changelog is since last alpha version.

Coming from version 2.x: please uninstall the previous version first!

Added

  • User-level installer (install.sh) for SteamOS and any other distro: installs prebuilt binaries under ~/.local with one command, checks prerequisites before changing anything, asks for confirmation at every security-relevant step, and supports upgrade (only the changed dependencies are downloaded), --pre-release, --version, --dry-run, --diagnose and uninstall.
  • Release tarballs are now signed (SSH signature over SHA256SUMS); the key fingerprint and manual verification steps are in the README.
  • Optional "Hide Physical Sink" General setting: hides the physical Arctis sink from the desktop's quick-settings output picker while the virtual Arctis_Media/Arctis_Chat sinks are active (needs WirePlumber; greyed out with an explanation otherwise).
  • At-a-glance battery and chat/game mix bars in the tray tooltip, the Plasma widget and the GNOME extension, hidden on devices that don't report them.
  • GitHub issue forms for installer problems, headset troubleshooting, new devices and general bugs.

Changed

  • Unavailable settings are greyed out in the GUI, with a tooltip explaining why.
  • Application stream monitoring uses a persistent PipeWire/PulseAudio connection instead of repeatedly spawning pactl.
  • Audio loopbacks no longer force a fixed latency, letting PipeWire align them with the driver.
  • Uninstalling now also removes the WirePlumber policy script and restarts WirePlumber.
  • CI: weekly CVE audit of the Python dependencies; Fedora COPR install/uninstall documented in the README.

Fixed

  • Arctis 7+ family headsets (7+, 7P+, 7X+, 7+ Destiny 2) no longer get stuck on "headset not ready" (GH #71).
  • A multi-interface headset (e.g. Arctis Nova 7 Gen 2) no longer starts one worker per hidraw interface when udev omits the interface number (GH #72).
  • Active streams are moved off the virtual sinks before they are torn down when a wireless headset disconnects (GH #73).
  • pipewire-pulse no longer spins at 100% CPU because of the loopback latency setting, and the stream monitor no longer feeds on its own events when no per-app overrides exist.
  • The systemd unit templates pointed to a wrong Documentation URL.
