⚠️ BETA RELEASE WARNING
This is an unstable pre-release version intended for testing purposes only.
✨ New Features
- Back up and restore settings as a JSON file
- Open Settings > General > Backup & Restore, then click "Export Settings…" or "Import Settings…"
- Keep a copy in iCloud Drive or a dotfiles repository, or use it to move your setup to another Mac
- The exported file name defaults to "DockDoor Settings .json"
- Importing asks for confirmation first, shows how many settings the backup contains, replaces all your current settings, and restarts DockDoor
- If the backup came from a different DockDoor version, settings that no longer exist are ignored and new settings keep their defaults
- Searching Settings for "backup", "export", "import", "restore", "sync", "dotfiles", or "iCloud" finds these options
🔧 Improvements & Stability
- Clear alert when a settings backup fails
- A "Settings Backup Failed" alert appears if a backup can't be saved or the chosen file isn't a DockDoor backup
- Window previews and tracking stay more accurate for tabs you switch to
- Happens automatically in apps with native macOS tabs
🐛 Bug Fixes
- Window switcher returns to the tab you selected
- Applies to apps with native macOS tabs, such as Finder, Terminal, and Safari
- Tabs you switch to are now remembered, listed in the switcher, and can be jumped to
- Works automatically, so just switch tabs as usual
- Switching tabs or windows in a background app no longer changes its recent order in the switcher
- Active app indicator no longer drifts while a Dock icon bounces
- It stays lined up with the Dock's edge with the Dock at the bottom, left, or right
- Works automatically if you use Settings > General > Active App Indicator
- DockDoor now launches on macOS versions that lack some of the system components used for the Liquid Glass look
- No action needed on older macOS releases
