v2026.11.3 - feat: Let the embedded thermostat regulate on a Home Assistant temperature reference

latest releases: latest, stable, v2026.11.4...

Summary

With the Climate add-on, the embedded thermostat can now regulate on the temperature calibration reference introduced in v2026.11.2 (#631), instead of the panel's own sensor. This is meant for a reference placed elsewhere in the room, where you want the temperature to be measured. With the reference next to the panel, the calibration alone already covers it, so the option is off by default.

The panel's sensor stays calibrated against the reference, so it can take over with little difference whenever the reference cannot be trusted, and the thermostat keeps working on its own during an outage.

Thanks again to @meiser79 for this follow-up.

How it works

  • New Blueprint toggle Embedded Thermostat - Regulate on the Calibration Reference in the Climate entity section, off by default. It has no effect without a calibration reference or without the Climate add-on.
  • The thermostat regulates on the reference while it can be trusted, and falls back to the calibrated panel sensor when:
    • the reference is unavailable, unknown or not a number, or a climate reference is unavailable,
    • Home Assistant has been unavailable for longer than api_stale_grace_period,
    • the reference has not changed for temp_reference_max_age (2 hours by default),
    • the reference differs from the panel's sensor by more than 10 °C (18 °F), which usually means it reports in a different unit. A warning is logged.
  • It switches back as soon as the reference can be trusted again. Each switch is logged once.
  • New substitution temp_reference_max_age, defaulting to temp_calibration_max_age, so the thermostat fallback can be tuned separately from the calibration pause.
  • Changing the toggle restarts the panel once, as with any other change to the panel's Home Assistant subscriptions.

The option needs both the updated Blueprint and the updated firmware. Older firmware ignores it and keeps calibrating only.

The Main climate Entity description in the Blueprint was also updated, as it still described the old Home page indoor temperature link.
